I'm at the point of wiring up my headlight on the P. There are around 8 wiring posts on the light and I have just as many unhooked wires in the headset.

There are no colored dots on the headlight posts and the wiring schematic doesn't give a description of what goes where.

I could hook them up randomly until it works right, but that could take a while.

Any thoughts on what goes where? I will get some pics and post them later, I'm assuming that will help.

Thanks!

Yep - have my VSX1T Euro No Battery with Indicators and 4 Pole Ignition diagram printed off.

I see nothing on the headlight regarding numbers or colored dots indicating what wires go where.

I could hook them up randomly until it works, but I don't even play the lotto.

I'll recheck the light for some hint.

Hmmm.

well, i have a 4 pole ignition on the '81 ET3 i'm working on ...non battery.

and only 2 of the poles actually have wires running to them. One runs to the green pole on the CDI, and the other runs to ground.

When your bike is in the "run" position, the green wire is NOT connected to ground. When it's in the "OFF" position, you turn the key and the green wire and ground wire are connected, and your bike won't start.

It's just a glorified kill switch.

As far as the wires running to the headlight ...the purple and brown have been the traditional wires to be your high and low beam ...so i'd start with those.

I've got the ignition hooked up properly, and yes there are only two wires on that. Green / Black.

I'm finding a lot of things I wish I would have taken a picture of before I tore the whole bike apart. I took some, but apparently not enough!

Do you have a sealed light fixture or replacement? I wonder if the non-sealed beam fixture replacement comes without the labels

ok. like i said above, purple and brown should run to the two tabs that connect to the two leads on the headlight bulb.

Ok, I'll start there.

I'll see if I can sneak out of work and walk over to the shop where my scoot is at. I've done that from time to time... 8)

Makes me wonder how I reconnected mine correctly... I too neglected to take pictures of the inside of the headset. I must have had labels on my unit, or the wires were distinctly bent in the directions they were supposed to go still.

pretty cool that the euro P was using the headlight as a big junction box.

That's how all the lambrettas were, too. Smart.
