Still waiting on parts from 'god knows where' to get my bearings 'notch' issue fixed. So far, it's been in the shop for 9 days.
The weather has been so nice the last couple days. Figures...

I've got a bad feeling that I won't see my ride again for several weeks. It's just so damn frustrating to have to wait soooo loooong for everything and anything to get done on this bike. I haven't the patience for this!! Sorry, just need to vent.....

At least I will have my Costa installed while it's there. Which of course, makes the wait that much more painful.

That's tough, hang in there. Not sure if Piaggio in Italy being closed for the summer break makes a difference or not. Hopefully next time you need parts, they'll be open!

And, I can speak from recent experience, the J Costa, once installed, will be worth the wait!

dkrz123,

I feel your pain, my bike was in the shop for over 8 weeks awaiting warranty work and yes it's very frustrating. Has your dealer even mentioned to you about taking the parts off a shop bike, putting it on yours to get it going again? The dealer can then wait for the part to come in vice you waiting. Be persistent about it...you could even send a PM to SDG, he's the owner of the Thousand Oaks/Sherman Oaks stores...to get advice from him. He was very beneficial to me in regards to options in dealing with owners and Piaggio USA.

Let me give you guys some advice. When you take your bike in for service for something that parts may need to be ordered for. Tell them up front you want your bike back till the parts show up. If they know this they won't do as much dis-assembly if possible and get it back together for you so you can keep riding while waiting for the parts. There is no reason for your scooter to be sitting in the shop while parts are on order.

+1

Also ask if they do a loan bike for the time the bike is in the shop. Many dealers let their demo bikes go out like this - and sometimes get a sale from it, or at least a review.

Wayne & Jim,

Unfortunately in my case, the bearings on the crankshaft went out and I had no engine, so couldn't ride my bike. But as you mentioned, the owner provided a loaner until the warranty was approved and they ultimately switched out an engine from a floor bike into mine. Now granted, what I learned from this issue is to be "MORE" assertive...as they say, the squeaky wheel gets the oil.

In my company the squeeky wheel gets replaced.
That doesn't apply to customers though.

Well, the word is "maybe" tomorrow. The last three weeks without my mp3 has been the best riding weather I've seen this year. I'm so looking forward to trying out the Costa! I just hope they do a good job with those bearings. I wouldn't want to go thru this again out of waranty. At least not for a very long time.

Unreal... I waited 20 days to have some mechanic from the shop call and tell me that they just realized they only ordered the center bearings (even I know that the bearings that are worn are the ones OVER THE DAMN WHEELS FOR GODS SAKE!!).

I don't think they know anything about this bike. Not a clue. Now I'm told it may be ANOTHER three weeks before they get the "right" parts in.

I'm besides myself with anger over this...

God only knows how badly the Costa install is going to turn out.

They'd have to put it all back together so I doubt it. Also, they are basically the only game in town. Several Piaggio dealerships have closed down around here, including the one I originally purchased the bike from. Next nearest one is just too far away. What I really don't understand is how these people can be so incompetent and why it's so damn difficult to get these bearings. I'm I really to believe that there is not a single place within the contimental USA that these parts can be had?

Thinks it's time for you to call Piaggio and dealer the needs to eat the Fed Ex cost to get the parts here ASAP.

Or tell them to take the parts off a bike on the showroom floor, put those parts on your bike and they can wait 3 weeks for Piaggio to ship the parts to them.

That is not practical, it can be an 8-12 hour job the first time & you just can't be pulling steering bearings off a show room bike.

when I live in Rockford ,Illinois the had a business called Berry Bearings don't know if it still there but they had anything instock and on hand. alls they needed was the stamp numbers or some one to take proper measure ments and the guy would go get it and you were on your way in minutes.
