What is with all the capitalization in thread titles?

Is this a new fad... or has Jess added a new mod that does this?

It's not just one person... so there must be something to it!

Please enlighten the uninformed!

it's just like ebay - punters pay an extra 35p to have their thread title capitalized for extra visibility. it got your attention didn't it?

If anything, I'll be putting in a mod to prevent it.

Better an all caps title than green text (shudder).

it makes me hate that much more. And I hate hating.

I save my all caps for stuff like OMG! and WTF?. I used to LOL but it died for me in '08. Now I use RUFKM?!?

I second that motion and would like to bring it to a vote...or just mandate it as the case may be.

There is enough shouting in the world.

Much as I'd like to never see another CAPITAL LETTER title, it takes a canny algorithm to implement sanely with no false positives. Maybe instead of checking for 'all caps', a check could be made that there was one or more lower-case chars in the title.

We could have software called a CAP TRAP.

We could have another called a GRAMMAR HAMMER.

We need an APOSTROPHE NOT TO BE.

For spelling we need a BETTER LETTER.

For premature carriage returns we could have LEARN TO RETURN.

We could use a VOWEL OWL..

A NOUN CLOWN.

A VERB SUPERB.

A CONJUNCTION FUNCTION.

A PARAGRAPH STAFF.

This one has already been implemented, but we have a different name for it. And nobody has noticed yet.

I hate all caps, it always looks like the person is yelling at me.

Why a technological solution to such a simple problem?

First time, a warning.

Second time, negative points (or whatever the system is).

Third time banned.

We get a lot of grief about MV being "over-moderated", even though it's pretty light compared to the vast majority of internet forum and comment sites. There's also a widely-held perception that we sit around banning people all day, even though we hardly ever ban anyone except spammers.

Nonetheless, I'd prefer not to do anything to reinforce those perceptions, no matter how stupid they may be.
