I know, I know, completely different animal here, but its just as awesome!

Since I've gotten into PTWs I've wanted an old Yamaha RD or Honda CB. Ideally, it would be a 350cc, but jeez, can you beat this?

http://batonrouge.craigslist.org/mcy/1352420759.html

I probably won't go for it (money is tight), but its tempting me.

damn, dude, I was just looking at it like 2 minutes ago!

Well, I guess the decision was made for me. Someone couldn't walk away from a $550 complete bike.

Someday, I'll own a old Yamaha 2-stroke... Sigh emoticon

I love mine. Pretty fun.
If you want to do freeways I'd be looking for an RD350/400 or R5.

Ahhh.. where have the years gone, I was a young guy in the seventies and owned several bikes during that time period. IMO the seventies had the greatest selection of well made nicely performing smaller displacement motorcycles from both europe and japan, much better selection then today, I think part of the reason scooters are so popular today is because small motorcycles are hard to come by and generally limited to dual sports.

In the US... Now that MotoCarrera is gone, these guys seem to be the most complete, and specifically focused on RDs and older 2-strokes:

http://www.hvccycle.com/

There's a few other places as well, and some decent forums.

Yep, they're good and www.usa2strokers.com is a very heavily RD/RZ site.
