I'd admit I thought the single-sided fork looked funny at first, but now I totally dig it. Am I doomed to ride a Vespa forever, or are there lesser scooters who spot such designs?

Will you buy a Vespa if someday in the future Piaggio started using "standard" forks instead?

Will there ever be a single-sided fork MP3 scoot?

Is a single-sided fork still called a fork?

MP3 has the single sided forks just like the Vespas just has 2 of them.

I always wondered that myself. I gave up when I figured nobody else was wondering the same thing.

Like BrendaEM said. The design came from airplanes. Piaggio began making fighter planes in WWI and WWII. The design also allows for easier front tire changing. Nerd emoticon

I'm pretty sure the front wheels on the GTS and MP3 are interchangeable.

ROFL emoticon

I remembered several years back when I was actively cycling, the rage among my friends then was the Cannondale Lefty, a single-sided suspension fork for mountain bikes. Some loved it, and some hated it. Those who didn't like it thinks it wouldn't hold up as well as a "standard" fork, while some others say it handles funny (but my guess is that it's more psychological than real).

So, nobody knows if other makers of scooters use a single-sided fork?

Silly Mike, the wings are recreational areas designed for tennis games on long-haul flights for pilots.

Italian WW2 fighter planes. At least they weren't building the multiple reverse geared tanks. Or, the Italian submarine with the sliding screen door.

Italian military weaponry = nothing to brag about.

Well, the Stella has a single-sided fork, obviously. And then there's that Hammerhead or whatever plastic Vespa copy that got shot down pretty quick. I don't recall seeing any other single-sided forks on scoots, except for perhaps an oddball vintage or two that I probably wouldn't be able to identify.

Ironic that part of the reason Vespa chose the single-sided design was for easy wheel/tire changes, and now it really doesn't matter for the rear one because the exhaust has to come off. It's just not a quick job to change a spare anymore, even if you do carry one with you.

More because they had a large number of Piaggio plane rear wheel systems hanging around - why not use them!
