Modern Vespa

Felt like I wanted to take the 300 to work today. Pretty much all highway with cruising speed of 75mph -80. Half of the trip is on a highway that is supposed to be driven at 55mph but no one does. I weigh about 250. 70-75 was no problem. Fine in the slow lane. 80 mph was a little harder to maintain especially on some of the inclines on the way to work. Found that if I tucked in i could do 85. On the scoot it takes a bit more planning to do overtakes and deal with merging traffic at the highway entrances. Quite a bit different than my M109 that can just suck in the road. On the way home with lighter traffic a had a bit of fun doing some drafting and tucking in on down hills. Once I get my topcase setup figured out i think a windscreen will be in the works. From what I've read that will help with that 80-85 mph. All speeds as indicated on speedo.

Freeways took me some getting used to. I can do it now with confidence. I do not enjoy staying the right (slow) lane as there are too many lane changes and merges for me. I move over where I can. I will get out in the fast lane if the road allows it. Less merges and smoother lanes.
