I had some issues earlier after the belt and roller change with the variator making noise but took it all apart and that noise went away. I thought I was all good till my ride to work this morning. It did not start till about 10mi. to work but when at a complete stop and accelerating I hear a bassy noise (almost sounds like chewbacca) come from the transmission. I think it might be the belt, and it was pretty moist out today. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!

Also, when I changed everything, I cleaned the hell out of it. No dust, no grease, nothing left in there.

Thanks for helping a newb...

All the other threads suggest cleaning with brake clean and blow out with air. I can't clean it any better, it's practically all new inside. I doubt it is a bad clutch since the noise wasn't there prior to the belt and roller change.

Harvey
I saw that post as well, doesn't sound like we have the same issue.

Except for that he says he also hears the noise at idle. The only way that could happen is if his clutch springs are weakened, his idle is set too high, or some other scenario where the clutch will engage at idle.

Did you notice anything when you took it apart again? Did you do anything differently?

What about astromags' issue?

GT200 Post Belt Change - Irregular noise - Update 9-3-09

Watch his video and see if that's what you're experiencing.

Yeah i fixed the idle issue. I took the whole thing apart again and it was gone after.
astromags' issue is different. I wish I could video it, but it happens when accelerating so that would be a little difficult.

Sounds like it. Kind of a bummer for us. I really don't want to spend $85/hr in service and it will end up being a fix I could have done.
