Maybe a misleading header, but I bought a product that will make my riding safer, but first, an intro.

I must admit that on a bitchy hot day when I am just going to zip into town for the mail or something, I sometimes don't wear my helmet. My biggest objection to the helmet is the D-rings and the strap. I hate fooling with them.

I had read on this forum about a metal buckle assembly that would convert the strap to use a quick release buckle. The price was fairly reasonable.

Recently, I found another product on line that was even cheaper and was made of high strtength plastic, but had a DOT approval. The item is the Powermadd Speed Clip which has a push button release. I bought mine (2) on-line for $6.97 ea.

The reason I feel that it may be a safety issue is because now I will wear my helmet ATT, since it is simple and quick to get the helmet secured.

I did saw the D-rings off, although it isn't necessary.

Here is the link to a good product:

If you don't like D-clips, why buy a helmet with them? My current Shoei is the first one for about ten years which has D clips. I don't mind, I just have to remember to do the helmet up before putting gloves on.

At the time I bought the two helmets, I thought the D-rings were industry standard. So, I will claim ignorance, but not stupidity. Razz emoticon

I have one of these clips on my old helmet. I didn't put it on the new one, because I felt it prevented me from tightening the helmet as much I need to. Whatever gets people wearing helmets and doesn't hurt others is fine by me.

You can adjust the strap as required and then it holds that adjustment, even after being opened.

I have something similar on my old Zox. Slightly different design but does the same job. It works as advertised. Believe it or not D ring systems are not all the same. I put my clip mechanism on because the Zox D rings were driving me nuts. The D rings on my new Icon are easy and convenient to use. Don't ask me for an explanation 'cause I don't have one...

I know. I have a small head, so I have to choke up really hard on the strap. Even using the D ring, I choke up on it really hard. The plastic clip just took up too much length on the strap and wouldn't allow me to tighten the strap enough for my comfort.
