I can. Those are a brilliant idea (as used by several MV members) if you have some disability which prevents you from riding a 'normal' bike.
However it seems it won't stop the majority of crashes in the UK, which are caused by other vehicles not observing right of way - mostly SMIDSY [1] incidents. [1] http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=SMIDSY&meta=&aq=f&oq= |

When that horrible day comes that I can no longer manage the weight of my scooters, I fully intend to put trike or quad kits on them. I've got a problem with a knee replacement done 36 years ago as well as fused discs in my back ... both of which were caused by very old sports injuries. I suffer from arthritis in my hands, elbows, knees and hips and my mobility and strength are depleted more and more with each passing year.
The thought of not being able to ride my scooters haunts me! Personally, I think trikes/quads are a wonderful solution! Gotta be better than driving a cage! Each to their own! |

Harley trikes seem to be really big here in SC
Most of them have females on them, either as a single passenger or riding on the back Perhaps they seem safer... although it sure looks unnecessarily exciting, when one of the wheels lifts as they take a turn |

To each his own. I'm glad that handicapped people have the ability to ride a 2-wheeled vehicle after modifying it with this setup.
I personally think it kills a bit of the point of a 2 wheeled vehicle ( thin profile, maneuverability, sportiness, etc )... but... i don't see the point in a lot of things that people seem to be totally into. Reality TV comes to mind. |

I used to wonder why you would want to have 4 (or 5) wheels on a scooter. Then I met a person with very short legs. They thought an MP3 would work for them with the locking front end... nope. When they stopped, the front end would sometime sag over and then they couldn't confidently get the bike leaned back up straight in a timely manner, in traffic. They now have an MP3 with two extra wheels...a FIKE as someone called it.
Fact is the rider still gets many of the advantages of a scooter (wind in the face, freedom, efficiency, the fun) and has the support they need to do this safely. I know many of you people here know who this is and the rider is very passionate about scooters in general. |
