My rear brake light comes on when I use the rear foot brake. It doesn't come on when I use the front brake lever. Is this normal or should both brakes activate the brake light on my VBB?

Best place to look is the wiring diagram. Perhaps this is the one for your VBB?

If so, only the foot brake is wired to the brake light, just like so many other Vespas of that era.

Thanks for the wiring diagram, it explains what I thought in that the brake light is controlled only by the foot brake.

VBB's never had a front brake light switch. That was only offered on Vespas starting in the mid-seventies.

Through the efforts of a fellow MVer (me), he got the answer in just under 2 hours. Why are you seemingly apologizing? You're a great asset Eric, but you don't have to feel responsible for providing all the answers all the time. Especially one as simple as this one should be for someone who owned a VNB for 41 years (also me).

I also had a time zone advantage on you. I was well after my first pot of coffee in the AM when he posted the question, not late at night.
