Everytime there are fires in the area we see bikes coming in not running right. This can be caused by ash and smoke clogging up the air filters, and in worst cases the carburator. The fires we are currently having are the worst I have seen in LA. Just a heads up to local scooter riders.

The GTS workshop manual cleaning burb :
Quote: Remove the filtering element and clean it with wa- ter and shampoo; then dry it with a clean cloth and short blasts of compressed air. Finally, immerse it in a mixture of 50% oil of the recommended type and 50% petrol. Then gently squeeze the filter el- ement between your hands, allow it to drip and then refit it. Regards Harvey |

Really good advice!
We have a lot of road construction going on all over the island and a lot of dust has been kicking up as a result. I told my mechanic that the scooter sounded and felt a little "off" the other day... so he checked the air filter. It was pretty dirty from just plain old road dust! He cleaned it up for me and she purrs along just fine again! Wangta, I don't think how to clean the oil filter is in the Wiki ... it may be there but I just haven't found it. However, the shop manual says: "The filter sponge should be cleaned with water and mild soap, then it should be dried with a cloth and slight blows of compressed air." |

Thanks for the heads up. just a shame that Hwy2 was just reopened all the way to 15 freeway and fires have closed it. it is the best riding road we have in the area

Mine's due for a service pretty soon here, so of course I'll be doing the air filter too. Thanks for the note, Mike!
