My 65 VBB was giving me taillight troubles, I believe I have that straightened out, I have a question about a square box that is mounted behind the coil. Black wire is to ground, yellow wire is connected to a terminal in the little junction on the engine. It says "Timpanium". I doesn't show up in my wiring diagram

in this photo you can just see the top of it between the brown junction box and the coil.

Do I need it ? does this help regulate the current ? Where should it be connected ? Thanks for the help, sorry if these are stupid questions.

it's a small 6v regulator that someone has bolted on there.

You SHOULDN'T need it if you have all the proper bulbs in your bike.

Remember that i recently wired one onto my SS180, thinking there was something wrong with it ...but later realizing i had the wrong / blown bulbs in it. Once i fixed those and put in the correct ones, i was fine.

and it looks like your taillight circuit that's getting regulated... which includes both the tail light and your pilot bulb. If you're not running a pilot bulb, or you don't have one in place, that explains why you keep blowing the taillight bulb.

Boy Eric you nailed it, I thought my tail light wiring was bad, but both my tail light and pilot blew after adding the rubber bits to the coil and junction box. so maybe I do need it ?
BTW I did just order new correct bulbs from scooterworks

Anytime you order bulbs, order like 4 of each. Trust me.
