I feel bad.

I love my Vespa LX50 but now I find myself fawning over the GTV or something with more power.

It feels like cheating...and after i convinced my wife to let me buy one. hoo boy.

Well, just wanted to get this off my chest. And yes, i still lurve my LX50 immensely just sometimes I want a little "strange" (yeah bad reference..ah wells, its gonna be a nice long weekend!)

Your wife has a lot of company. My husband's satisfaction with a two-wheeled vehicle usually doesn't last more than a year, then he wants to move on to something new. A 50cc is usually just the first in a collection.

It's normal human instinct to crave power and speed, don't worry 8)

As I never leave the city my 50 is adequately speedy and I have no urge to chop it in for a GTS or suchlike. If I was craving speed and had money to burn then I'd want to wedge a bigger, tuneder, kitteder 190 in the S, because I love it and don't want a different modern. And it would be a little beastie.

As is, if I want to go faster than any scooter, then I just hop in the car.

Yup. And Vespa even now probably has a roadmap of a new scoot every two years or so with a GTS 350, then a 400, then a 450...

aaaiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Thanks!

(sigh) However, I'd rather be in my position versus I bought a Kymco or a Vino or a "Pei Wei" brand and wish i could have bought a Vespa.

Have the best of both worlds. Keep your beloved LX 50 and get a bigger faster GTS 250 or 300 Super for longer faster rides. You'll still enjoy the LX 50 for around town where its lightness and nimbleness are positive attributes and its lower power isn't a detriment.

1+

On short trips my wife's Honda Metro is fine, going to the library, picking up groceries, dropping off mail, etc. This is her scoot and she's fine with it.
I've asked her if she wanted to upgrade to a ~100cc (i.e. Honda Super Cub when and if it becomes avaiable...nope...fine with the Metro).

When I use it, I just keep in mind of what its' been designed to do and accept its' limitation.

With the GT200...that's a different situation...it's more in line with mid-size MC.

IMHO, if you're the primary rider then decide for yourself if you need to upgrade..if it's a shared ride then it would be a shared decision to upgrade.

TB is spot-on. I only owned a Buddy 50 for two months before I traded it in on my GTS. Now, I wish I had them both. The GTS is great for cruisin', and the 50 was a great little grocery getter.

Yep, I got rid of my ET2 to get the BV500. I couldn't afford to keep both, but I miss that little scoot sometimes. However, the BV is so much better for me overall. Maybe it's like shoes. I would hate to wear my boots to the beach If that works with her let me know Laughing emoticon

Ahhh, Goshi, you were my LX50 hero here. I am in the same boat you are in now. I test drove a GT200 today and LOVED the extra speed and power. If all goes well, I'll buy it but have to decide whether or not to keep the LX. As it stands now, we have two autos, a motorcycle and a scooter in the garage. Not sure we can fit one more!
