but with a modern, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled 400cc powerplant, CVT transmission, and ABS disc brakes. I'd settle for a fiberglass body shell if it precisely copies the original...but I'd really prefer it be all aluminum.

The Goggo is simply beautiful in it's own little atomic Flash Gordon way.

I have a birthday coming up in only five months....just sayin.

It's a Goggo 200 made in Germany...and I'd take it all original. 8)

Don't get me wrong, an original would be a hoot.

I'm just thinking....with all the many and varied V-twin retro cruiser motorcycles out there from all the major manufacturers that mimic to some degree or another vintage Harley and Indian machines in general appearance, an updated classic scooter like the Goggo, Zundapp Bella, or Heinkel Tourist, upsized a bit and with modern mechanicals would be just TOO much fun when all rolled up in a campy package of eye candy like this thing.

If my 650 Burgman looked like one of these old German scooters, I'd worship the thing, and likely sell my mother to get one if that was what it took. I'm probably not going to live long enough for this sort of wonderful retro-atomic styiling to come back around to scooters once again, though it's eventually going to.

If I was any good at fabricating, I'd just build an upsized repro of some of these great old designs and use modern donor bikes for the powered rolling chassis.

In my opinion, this design is so over the top, that without the whole vintage package (motor and other original elements) it will all just go over as cheesy.

But that's just me, and I'm always biased to old original things.

Not much of a chance of you finding one and being able to make those modifications to it... It is not like there isn't enought room in them, just not much chance of finding one for sale..
Some times I wish I could just scan all the barns and garages out there in the world and find stuff like this... Then I would need lots of money and a barn of my own to put them all in.. Razz emoticon

I want to be the Jay Leno of scooters. I really, really like at least two dozen vintage scooters out there! Damned good thing I have nowhere to put them all though ... otherwise, I would find some way to afford my obsession!

For the Goggo 200 to officially qualify as an 'over the top' design, it must use no less than four body 'portholes' per side, but as you can clearly see, it only sports two per side, which, according to the Harley Earl guidbook to post-war industrial design, places the German scooter solidly in the conservative column alongside Kelvinator refrigerators but very much behind even late 1940's Pontiac 'Silver Streak' Torpedos.

Nerd emoticon

I don't see the Goggo as any 'more over the top' (for lack of a better description) than the admittedly more graceful classic Vespa design...in fact, without the portholes and the venting louvres in the main body steel, it would look a bit like a rolling suitcase, though probably still recognizable as a German suitcase......there's definately just something 'German' about old German scooters, and I mean that in the best possible way.

I would never screw up an original scooter of any kind with modern modifications, but I was wishing for a somewhat larger, newly manufactured 're-issue' that only looks like an original from thirty feet away but has decent brakes, better suspension, and a bit more power, etc, etc.

Kind of like what Kawasaki did with their Vulcan 'Drifter' motorcycle that superficially resembles a vintage Indian Chief, but 'everyday practical'.

I don't know......for the past several days I've been 'trending' towards the quirky but (and) fabulous Cezeta as a current favorite for a modern 'redo'.

The longer one looks at this unique scooter, the better it gets. It'd make a great 400 in a 15% upsized version too (though I love the original two-stroke after watching videos of it running).

So now I'm going to officially declare the Cezeta as numero uno on my retro scooter lust-list, which will unfortunately slide the Goggo to No. 2. (for now).

I ask you! who could not love this pretty little beast? It looks like the love child from the 'union' of a Vespa and an Electrolux vacuum cleaner, and I mean that in the best possible way.

I like the Goggo a lot - I'd feel I'd have to take up pipe smoking to really pull it off though. I did have a look for the originals when they were last mentioned but the web seemed to be full of people looking for spares so I guess there's problems there. But is it that difficult to produce body work for an existing chassis to make it into a Goggo? Perhaps you could add small bumpers on the sides to avoid damage in a spill. I might even sucomb to putting little running lights around the holes to give it a 1950's sci-fi look!

I doubt if anything having to do with these old scooters is available anymore without some serious networking and a bunch of 'expendable income'.

I know nothing about the cute little one-wheel trailers shown on the Cezetas, but just to tease you a bit more, here's another photo I have of the rig showing it quite clearly in a nice side view....

And if that doesn't suit you, you can always try a matching sidecar...

I suspect these matching 'accessories' are as rare as hen's teeth.

Those trailers are from PAV and the Czech Republic
See: http://www.singlewheel.com/Scoots/PAVFR.htm

They aren't made any more,
but they make retro imitations in Vietnam and possibly other places

Thanks for the link, lots of nice reference photos even if I can't read anything....there's also a link from that site that shows many pictures of my old Jawa Velorex sidecar that I had in the mid 1970's.

Genuine is planning something like that for 2010 or 11. PGO would be making it. Engine 270-300.
If it is executed as well as the Buddy, it will awesome. I tried to hold out for this alleged scooter, but could not, so I have a GTS. Razz emoticon

Probably a..........mint!

Seriously, I have no idea, but (relatively) rare, finely restored, vintage machines cost accordingly. They're not going to be up there with original Indian Chiefs, '65 Bonnevilles, and Black Shadows (yet), but it'll be quite a while before I can afford one, thats for certain.

I would expect they have a much stronger market in Europe than they do in the states too, just an under-educated guess from a wishful Yank.
