I've had my LX50 a total of 3 months and 6 days and just took it in for it's first service. The dealer is 30 miles away, so one goal of mine was to try out a larger bike. I really need more power to get me over the hills we have here in NW Arkansas. I got my motorcycle permit yesterday (none is needed for 50 cc here) and was interested in a used model on their floor, a 2007 Granturismo 200. I drove it around for a while, and really loved the speed and power. The weight took some getting used to though.

So, this bike has only 340 miles on it....someone bought it new and didn't ride it at all. Since it's out of warranty, is there anything I need to look into as I consider buying this bike? Any known problems? (They've priced it at blue book, but since it's a consignment, and at the end of the season, it has some dealing room) It's really nice looking, in a graphite black:

Every scoot model has some quirk or difference from others. There will be problems with it just like there would if it was brand new. The GT is a nice scoot, just a little bigger than my LX150, but has the power to hit freeway speeds easy. It is also just a bit lighter, and smaller than my GTS250. It is what I was planing to get till I found the LX150 on craigs list, with 364miles on it, in a similar situation that GT200 is in. I should have looked around more, and stuck to the GT200 or GTS250, then I would not have 2 scoots now, but just the one.
At 340 miles, it is just as good as new, hasn't even had it's 1st service yet, it will take you no time to get used to the heavier scoot, just do not expect it to be a nimble as the 50cc was. Nothing is! But it will have the power you want, and it is still a nimble scoot! From what I can tell the GT200 owners here on MV love the GT200. I would say go ahead and upgrade, and don't look back.
I am assuming you will need to trade in your LX50 to help pay for it? If not keep them both, the major good thing about having two scoots is I can still ride, if one is down waiting on parts..

I see that one has the full chrome kit & a rear rack. Those surely aren't accounted for in KBB pricing (i.e., it's probably worth a couple bucks more to the right buyer), so if there's 'even more wiggle room, do it.

In all honesty, I'd rather have a GT200L than a GTS250 - I see *far* less problem threads posted about GTs here than their younger brother, and AFAIK, it's just as capable a scoot for about 97% of the riders here.

i've had my GT since december (bought used with about 6000km on it) and the only thing i don't like about it is that i've had no excuses so far to tinker with the engine - it's run like an absolute champ. i upgraded from an ET4 and though it's not quite as nimble as the smaller scoot (it's got a big bum) you won't even notice after riding it for a few weeks. the extra weight and power are a real advantage.

that's a lovely scooter - as others have said, grab it!

Thanks for all the replies. I thought about it over the weekend, and called the dealer today to express that I was interested and to find out how motivated the seller was, since it's a consignment. He said I could possibly trade my LX50 (depending on what they have coming in), put it on the floor in consignment, or sell it myself.

How hard it is to sell an LX50 in this market? Blue book has a range of $2090 trade in value to $2920 retail sale. I realize I'm going to take a bath on it, but I want to minimize the pain as much as I can. It's azurro blue in pristine condition, and a FACO rear rack installed.

Sorry for the serial posting.....dealer just called and said the seller was interested in my LX for his daughter and offered a trade deal. I've countered with a bit lower price. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

From one Arkansawyer to another. Jump on it like stink on...well, you know. And it looks like a little bling goes with it to. Cool.

Thanks, guys!

Well, the dealer said the seller didn't want to budge on what his offer was. So I'm thinking about it overnight.

Well, if you didn't want to budge on your offer, the seller would be thinking about it overnight, too. Maybe you could meet in the middle?

The 200's are a great scooter. They take hills without problems. See if you and the dealer can meet in the middle. Good luck

I think we have a deal! The dealer is going to throw in some service dollars to help make the difference. I'm so excited, and now I don't have to worry about finding a home for my little blue baby. I'll miss him, but bless his heart, I just need a little more oomph!

Congratulations! A Win - Win for both parties!

It looks loaded. You will get used to the weight difference.

Enjoy your new ride!

Cheers,

Gianni

Sounds great! You'll love the GT200. It's plenty of scooter for most riders.

I love mine. I take it everywhere.
