I just took my s150 in for 620 mile service. my dealer charged a little over $100 which is pretty good considering what I've read on this site. anyway when I p/u my scoot my dealer & I struck up conversation. I told him I'd recieved a letter about extending my warranty. I then asked him about the 24hr roadside assistance. he's been a dealer for over 5 years and did'nt know of anyone that had required this service. I could see no problem in big markets like San Antonio, Austin or in Cali but what about rural areas like West TX? Just curious if anyone could share some experiences w/24 hr or if the extended warranty is worth it's salt seeing as I wish to add mods after 1 year.

Check your insurance policy. Insurance companies will put roadside insurance in the policy for a small fee.

I have extended warrenty because the MP3 has some unusual engineering to it. The only mods that may affect the warrenty are performance enhancing mods.

It sounds good haven't had to use it yet. I am an AMA member and figured why not get the free coverage. I used to pay for HOG for the Harley but they don't cover the Vespa. I dropped HOG for the free AMA. Hopefully I will never need to test it out.

24 hr roadside
I'm really not shopping insurance. my current policy has 24 hr. I guess what my question is about specifically is if anyone out there has had a blowout or engine problems on the road while under vespas warranty period and called the vespa 24hr service line. how long did it take for help? was the service covered under warranty or did you have to pay out of pocket? also has anyone purchased the extended warranty that vespa offers and did you feel it was worth the money or did you have a bad experience?

I called Vespa Roadside Assistance about two months ago....my GTS wouldn't start...they were real helpful...told me the truck would be there within one hour...it was there in two hours..not their fault but the driver's fault...the service did call my cellphone after one hour was up with a machine's voice asking to press 1 if service was completed and 2 if not and further assistance was needed.....anyway, bottom line is, the guy from the towing company SUCKED big time...showed up with a flatbed and a car on it and one in tow behind it...SOL on my part....it was so late at night and no other companies with flatbed that I was screwed...was cursing the Roadside Assistance aspect of ownership...anyway, after walking my GTS home for 3 1/2 miles at 12 midnight, I called when I needed them to tow the bike (this time, I requested a different towing company)...this company came out withing the hour to my house and flatbedded the bike to the dealer no problems...and, YES the best part of having the warranty isn't the towing...it's the WARRANTY...the voltage regulator was covered and fixed without a penny out of my pocket. Now, there are a few facts to remember about Vespa Roadside assistance:

1) They will only tow your bike up to $100 of towing per incident...which should cover most tows.
2) AAA roadside assistance is worthless for towing a motorcycle or scooter unless you have the AAA Plus RV service.....I am a AAA Plus member since 1980 and they wouldn't come out for me because I don't have the Plus RV service.
3) The warranty is a good thing to have...just in case....mine came for free for three years when I bought my GTS so I paid nothing for it but also remember...if you do get the warranty...YOU MUST SERVICE THE BIKE AT ALL SCHEDULED INTERVALS FOR SERVICE OR PIAGGIO WILL INVALIDATE YOUR WARRANTY....VERY IMPORTANT...either service by time or mileage...whichever comes first for you.
4) Try to negotiate the price of the warranty with your dealer...especially if it's at the time of purchase.

Best of luck to ya'.
