I just stumbled accross this forum while hunting for parts and info on a Vespa project I just picked up. I've had a few Eye-talian scooters before, including a Rally 200, a wicked fast Primavera, as well a series one Li125 and a series 3 Li125 Special. Anyways, I have a garage full of 1950s and 1960s Triumph and BSA motorcycles that I'm obsessed with, so haven't had a scooter for a few years. Earlier this week I found a 1973 Rally 200 with a built to the hilt p200 motor for $600. I couldn't pass it up. The bad news is, someone tried to make a "p-series" out of it. Horncasting is crunched in to fit a plastic horn cover, px forks, etc. What I want is an early 60's Vespa with a round tail and a strong motor. The motor I have has a full-circle crank, Malossi top end, reed-valve, a Dellorto 30, and a nice Toomey pipe. All freshly rebuilt. So I think I got the strong motor part covered. I just need a nice frame with a round tail (VBA, VNB?) I'm not too attached to the Rally frame, so don't be surprised if you see it in the classifieds. Any advice is highly appreciated.

Nice engine.
Who made pipes w/Toomey silencers other than West Coast Lambretta? Did West Coast make some one-off Vespa pipes? |

I take it you think I got a fair deal on the bike? Just in case you're wondering, yes, it was the nauseating Pepto-pink bike that was on Craigslist. Oh, and thanks for the warm welcome

Welcome Pete.
Nice motor, hopefully it lasts. Poor ole Steelcap (Mark) just blew his up so no hard feelings. Chat it up a bit with Greasy...he knows his stuff and I'm sure he's got something that you are lookn' for. Let us know when you are up and running. J |

OK- I just picked up a 1958 Alltate, minus the motor from Todd (VP1). It was just was I was looking for. Needs a little metal work, but I can handle it. I actually got to take it for a spin before he yanked the motor. So now I have a nice (kinda) old Vespa with a round back with a built p200 motor. I really want to convert to a fork with a damper and a 10" wheel. I'm sure there's threads on it, so I'll do some research. I also need a side-stand since the centerstand won't work with the pipe. And finally, I need a nice twin/dual seat. It had a p200 seat, but It didn't look right. I have a p200 fork, so I'm hoping to somehow modify it to fit the Allstate. Any tips?
