Hi to all! i was wondering if anybody here would know the real story on the navy gtvs. On the official vespa site there is nothing there mentioning that this line is limited..yet, dealers online say on their sites that the navy gtv is limited. As i understand the gt60 is limited with 999 units made. if the navy is limited how many units were made? and i just wanted to know yer opinions on what you think is the better deal...the sieanna or protifino with leather seats and rack? or the "limited" navy blue with no rack and synthetic sand seats. tthanks guys!

If you live in a wet climate the Navy is a better deal as it uses the LX type material on its seat. OK you have to buy a rack. I don't think it is particularly limited to any particular number. If you like the look the navy is a good buy.
It doesn't appear on the UK website any more so production must have stopped. It will be rarer than the Portofino or Siena I would wager. |

I dunno.
I love the portofino green with the beauty of the brown leather. You definitely got to treat it well (to keep it nice). got a pic of the navy? |

I don't think it's limited mate.
I'm sure it was just a budget version of the GTV (hence the standard seat and no rack and standard wheels etc). I've seen one in the flesh and it's lovely......shame about the seat though! |

arent the wheels on the sienna and portifino green the same with the navy? that greyish color? anyway i wonder why stores like motoden http://www.motoden.com/acatalog/2009_Vespa_GT250_Navy.html
and bills smith motors http://www.billsmithmotors.co.uk/content/pages/new-bikes/vespa/250cc%20scooters/GTV250Navy.htm announce this to be limited.. hmmm... i also found this.. http://www.twistngo.com/news/index.htm can they do that? announce to the world its limited when its not?... you are right..the navy is lovely...but shame on the seat...but nevertheless..it may give credence to it being limited by being the only GTV with that set up..all else are with the leather seat and rack from the gt60, avino grey, portifino green, and sienna.....i can only imagine Piaggio smilling to the bank when navy blue owners all buy leather seats and racks.... |

I wish they'd brought these over to the States. They're limited enough at least that we don't get them here. I even asked a couple dealers if it was possible to order one, but apparently not. Honestly, I'd have gotten the Navy over my Siena Ivory, if I'd had the choice. Would have kept the lighter vinyl seat for the nice contrast. But I'd definately have had to buy a rear rack.

Wow, Rex, your GTV should feel honored to hang with that other one. Is it one of Rolf's?
I like the blue GTV body color, but not the seat color. I still think both the Portofino Green and Ivory colors, each with the dark brown seat, are absolutely outstanding design combos. |

That's a really interesting GTV setup... split seats but not leather, and no rear rack. I've not seen one in this setup before and the colour is nice.
That said I do personally think the leather-covered seat and the rear rack adds to the "V" series look however, and if this is priced the same as other GTVs I'll go for the "standard" GTVs (I like Portofino Green!). I wonder if the Navy colour have a funky name? |

Looking in details more at the link provided I'm really confused now...
In the PDF brochure on the UK Vespa site you can see that the official images provided for the scoot obviously uses the GTV headset and instrument cluster, and sports the "GTV" badge at the rear cowl. However it's simply known as the GT 250 Navy (not "GTS" or "GTV"). Interesting find... |

and the Gtv navy is priced cheaper at that set up by a few hundred..so i think if you are going for the rack and leather seat option, the better value would be the sienna and portifino green...to turn the Gtv navy into that set up would price it higher than the regular GTV..
that said, if you had a navy blue gtv..do you think its worth it to buy the seats and rack? or just keep it as it is? |

The split non-leather seat is a rarity* in itself I would think so if you're into collecting rare* accessories I'd imagine this seat is a must-have Or perhaps some rare* accessories collector may be interested in swapping a "common" leather split seat with you for this "rare"* non-leather one * It's hard to tell whether a particular item is truly rare... I'm told of a GT60 story where a local bought one of these when one arrived in New Zealand, and babied it as he hoped it will appreciate in value in the future. Soon after, however, Vespa launched the mass-production GTV series... sure, it's not a GT60 but it sure looks damn similar. I wonder if Vespa intends for this non-leather split seat to accompany GTS's as the brown leather look looks a bit out of place (my opinion) on the modern machines and may soon put this seat into mass production...? |
