Hi folks,

I have recently purchased an '06 PX200E with slight damage to the LHS, requiring the left side rear mudguard and front mudguard to be removed.

I've got some information on how to remove the front mudguard, but would appreciate some information on how the rear guard and spare wheel are removed.

Thanks in advance,

Drew

hi drew

are you pulling our collective legs or something
there is no rear mudguard just a shassis with a few bits welded on

so i assume you mean the left side cowl

to remove the rear wheel you take out the 3 or 2 bolts - nuts that hold it on

youve just bought it at that auction havnt you ?

if its the cowl you mean ill get back to you in a jiffy

OK, OK, the left side cowl then! Alternatively known as the spare wheel cover.

I presume the cowl comes off before the spare wheel comes out?

Cheers,

Drew

yay your back !

okay to remove the cowl you need to lift the seat , then at the front of the underseat area you will see 2 little metal bar rod things , twist that bar thing out as far as it will go then its just a matter of removing the cowl from front to back

there are two pins and a wire spring that secure the cowl in place

when reinstalling the cowl put the rear pin in first ( its just a locatting pin)
then make sure the spring sits on the little metal wing then push down tilll the front pin can go in as you twist the little metal rod back to the closed position

the funny thing about these is the front pin and coresponding hole it goes into and the contact point is actually part of your wiring for the indicators

Great stuff, will take a look shortly.

Hoping to have repairs complete and in the booth in 2-3 days. Not much to fix, to be honest!

Here's a few pics: http://dgbedelph.gallery.netspace.net.au/album11

Cheers,

and i just thought i'd add to make things simple incase you didnt know

with the fuel tap ( that grey thing sticking out under the seat bit)

it has A for apri (open) on one side and C for cuerte (closed) on the other side... I usually just leave it apri but the americans with their old bikes will say to keep it closed...........whatever ............. its kinda cool that you can shut off the fuel for security or whatnot though

good luck i hope youll enjoy your new bike as much as i like mine

Didn't realise it was that easy!

Cowl and spare wheel now off, have run panel file over to see how bad it is. Will straighten out tomorrow. Remove front guard, too, and refinish the side skirt.

Will post up a few more pics as I go.

Thanks for your assistance!

Nice scooter. Damage looks minimal and easily repairable.

no the panel (cowl) is the big thing on each side one covering the engine and one covering the spare, regulator, battery ect...... the spare wheel cover is the plastic half moon bit of tat that most people put on a shelf External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text

youll learn alot if you stick around

Any idea where I might find the paint code? There isn't one shown on the build plate, and I've had a good look around the frame but can't see anything. Suggestions?
