Hey guys, didn't find anything in the search... is the point where the brake lights come on when applying the brakes, user adjustable?

I notced the other night that with light pressure to a little bit of pressure they don't come on... I have to pull a bit before my lights come on... it's hard to describe, but it's enough I feel more resistance on the lever than... in going down the road, I feel this point when I start getting into some more serious braking, more than just a little slow down.

I don't know if it changes when rolling or not, but it seems later than I would like for them to come on... from what I can tell stopped, I have to phyisically start braking hard enough to decrease speed with the throttle on in order to flash my lights at a car behind me, can't really just flash them with light braking...

Also, was talking with some guys on a ride today, about how we all want tail light modulators, and the guy who had been behind me, said mine already does... It's part of this adjustment I think, that when braking on say corners, it's just enough that the lights start to come on but are going on and off, perhaps with the bump/vibration in the road, or just slight flinches in my hand... when we pull up to stops, etc... they go on solid of course...

Maybe this is normal, maybe I need to have the shop fix this... hoping I can user adjust it though, and save time....

I just busted my light switch last weekend Crying or Very sad emoticon The switch just screws in, be careful that you don't over tighten it.

Right on, thanks guys... I figgured that's what it was, and we tried looking on the ride, but couldn't see the switches, I'll run down sometime this morning and check, possibly remove the plastic peices to see if I can find it that way...

For anyone who's interested. Here's a picture of the switch. On an mp3
400 you have to remove the plastic covering the handle bars. It's not
exactly adjustable. You can back it off but without a locknut or
something. There really is nothing to stop it from loosening or
tightening on it's own. For this fact I decided to leave mine alone. I
thought about loosening it and twisting the wires in the opposite
direction to keep it from loosening further. But decided I didn't like
that with vibration it could loosen or tighten on it's own.

The adjustment is only a problem with very light braking. Not much
beyond what the engine does with the throttle off anyways.

What I normally do in that situation is snip a bit (1mm say) off the red actuator button with some flush-cut wire cutters. Alternatively you can add a washer behind it, or wrap some self-amalgamating tape around the shoulder of the switch to jam it in place. PTFE tape around the threads should work too. Or super-glue!
