Sorry, but could not find much on searching. 5w-40 is listed. Shopping in the stores, short of the bike dealerships; I found Castrol Oil synthetic listed with matching ae-3 listing to meet specs. SL by API rating is not dependable. To my understanding the API does not rate motorcycle oil since the SG ratings, a few years ago. JASO rate is not on the castrol, but the ACEA 3 was. Going with this for now. Other SL rated oils did not have the ACEA rating at all. Hope i remembered the abbreviations right. Adding to the fire....my oil usage with 1500 miles seems to be about a Tablespoon or two within 700 miles.

Have a look at "General Discussion" - and the posts in the last 24 hours before I start berating you for not using the search function...

search... I put simple words at the top. Limit to MP3 group even. Text only search, and just about everytime it seems to just go to the MP3 discussion group, with all unrelated items. What am i doing wrong, spent many hours searching through pages of unrelated listings, then people reply with quick answers! Confused at this point. Sorry to upset you.

What am i doing wrong, spent many hours searching through pages of unrelated listings, then people reply with quick answers! Confused at this point. Sorry to upset you. Always click the "search for all terms" box and almost always click the "search title only" box. For instance, if I do a search for "Oil Choices" and then click 1. search for all terms 2. mp3 discussion and 3. search titles only I get: 72 matches. It only takes a sec to spot a few articles that are probably what I'm looking for: https://modernvespa.com/forum/topic41242?highlight=oil+choices https://modernvespa.com/forum/topic28381?highlight=oil+choices https://modernvespa.com/forum/topic42493?highlight=oil+choices There's a few more that are probably helpful too. The trick is to keep tweaking words and search the titles. Don't input a ton of words, keep it short and to the point. Let's say I was looking for articles on the brakes on the mp3. If I put just "brakes" and search titles, I'll get less than if I did text too(where I'd get a ton!), but would still get probably too many, so I'd try things like "brake replacement" or "brake install". Another great tip is that once all the posts come up, look for the amount of replies when choosing articles. If an article seems like a great find but only has 3 replies, it's likely not as good as the one with 77 comments. Finally, many(including myself) have trouble with the search function in that once you select an article to read, read it, and press the back button on your browser, you get an error and have to re-enter all your info. This can be avoided by simply right clicking the article and choosing to open it in a new window. Hope that all helps, just keep fiddling with it and trying out different searches. |
