I wish they'd put that on a cup or a mug. I don't actually drink coffee, so I'm not likely to buy the bag. I am, however, addicted to their shakes and that strawberry frappucino.

We have this bad ass coffee machine at the store that grinds the beans for you and this is the coffee that we use.
I don't drink coffee, but the aroma that comes out of each cups gives a very nice smell on the showroom floor. |

I have the cup, stickers, and bags with this logo on them. I would probably trade them all for the poster though.
This poster is up at the top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas..We kept trying to come up with a plan how to get it off the wall and down on to the street. |

I've been lusting after the one in a local shop as well. They have recently re-done the bags and they have a bit larger picture than the previous.

carphone whorehouse
They are big cell phone company who started out years ago when it was mostly car cell phones and they just kept the name and we are WAY ahead of the US in cell phones lol http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/ The Carphone Warehouse Group PLC is made up of two very distinct businesses: Carphone Warehouse and TalkTalk Group. Carphone Warehouse is our retail and distribution business and is Europe's leading independent retailer of mobile phones and services with over 2,400 stores in 9 countries. TalkTalk Group is our fixed line business and is currently UK's number 3 broadband provider serving over 3.9m fixed line customers comprising 2.8m broadband and 1.1m voice-only and narrowband http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Carphone_Warehouse

I lump Starbucks and Carphonewarehouse in the same piss-bucket. Big and customer-clueless. </Gog> Want a good coffee? Find a small independent cafe that seems well-frequented. Likewise for an ISP or phone provider. |

Come on - it's a local company, does great work in the community, and has much better benefits for it's workers than independents...no Seattle bias here, no sir!

You were in South Louisiana and you stopped at Starbucks? Shame.
![]() Try the local stuff... Community Coffee (CC's coffee house) or River Road Coffee (they don't have a coffee shop, but are served all over). Good stuff. |

This debate about Starbucks vs. local coffee shops always cracks me up. There are some great local coffee houses that serve good coffee and take care of their employees, but I'd wager that for every really great local coffee house, there are 10 lousy ones who pay their employees the bare minimum, and are staffed by catty teenage girls who only serve coffee between text messages.
Both of my daughters worked at Starbucks, and I was impressed with the training, consistency, and treatment of the employees compared with the other jobs available for first time employees out there, like working at WalMart or Target. Those of you who think Starbucks has bad coffee, which blend are you talking about? They have so many it's hard to keep track. There's really no need for a "winner" in the local coffee house vs. Starbucks debate. People vote with their wallets, and good coffee served with great customer service will succeed, whether it's an independent or a chain. |

Yes, yes, yes, Stumptown!
I drank Starbuck's in the '90s until I tasted the vastly superior wares of Espresso Vivace in Seattle. I switched to Espresso Vivace's coffee beans. Then one day during a visit to Portland, my friend took me to his neighborhood Stumptown...WOW! My jaw was on the floor, it was so good! These days, I buy coffee beans from both companies (Espresso Vivace and Stumptown, not Starbucks!). Maybe it was just me, but it seemed like Starbuck's coffee was better in the early '90s, before the company started its rampant growth. My wife and I liked it for many of the same reasons why we don't care for it anymore--it was a small, local company with a product we really enjoyed. Oh, well. But even then, Starbucks' hallmark was over-roasted beans, which many people develop a taste for. Not me, after tasting enough high-quality alternatives. I usually keep some unroasted Espresso Vivace beans on hand to roast myself, which has given me a good idea of how the flavor varies with changes in the level of roast. Other home roasters that I know refer to Starbuck's coffee as "charcoal." It's easy to make your own Starbuck's coffee at home...just leave it in the roaster for awhile longer after it's done! I guess I always thought my first post would be about scooters, but there you are. I've had the coffee habit a lot longer than my scooter (about 3 weeks now). Gary |

Now that's a recommendation! Vivace is the best espresson I have had in Seattle, so if you say that Stumptown is good, then it is now on the official list of places to visit next time we are down south!!!
Seriously though, in the middle of SoCal visiting family, it's Starbucks or Union 76/McDonalds coffee. Even being a hater, which one would you choose? |

Since this has now turned into a recommended roaster thread, let me put a plug in for Olympia's own Batdorf & Bronson's. They produce some high quality goods & I do believe they do mail order. They've been in the biz since 1987 or so & are still going strong. Every morning as I sit in their shop drinking my joe & watch people pass them by on their way to Starbuck's I just shake my head & think, "they don't know what they are missing."

If you are SoCal and you want a good Starbucks alternative try "Peet's", several around and originated in N Cal (Berkeley). |
