I've heard there is no such thing as a stupid question. Only really dumb ones. Well, here's a dumb one. I've looked all over MV and am unable to find out what the red, white, and blue targets mean; as well as the red circles with a red line through it. Help, I'm still new here.

At the bottom of each post, there are three symbols. The first one is a "thumbs up" that you can give the person who made the post if you think it is helpful. The next symbol is "thumbs down" if think the post was unhelpful or anything other than contributing positively to the thread. The third symbol (all the way to the right) is for reporting a post to the moderators. When you garner X number of positive or negative votes, you will receive the "modern targets" for positives or the red symbols for negatives. The idea is to make people think twice before posting argumentative, negative or stupid posts. Example: If this post was helpful to you, give it a "thumbs up".

Exactly
But you can only see the thumbs up & down buttons when you are logged in
(because you can only vote while logged in)

May I mention here Jess labeled the thumbs up as 'helpful' and the thumbs down option as 'obnoxious'?

The thumbs down wasn't labeled as 'unhelpful' 'negative', or 'not contributing'.

The best advice I can give here is to remember two words: "Helpful" and "Obnoxious". Let those two words guide your decision to use (or not to use) the rating buttons.

We really need a third button: "Funny". That'll have to wait until I get a few kinks worked out, though.
