Thought I had my wiring fixed on my 65 VBB 150, got my new 6 volt bulbs today. Now when the lights are on and I step on the brake, the tail light goes out. Goes back on when I release the brake. Bad ground ???

Problem 2. When I shift into first or 2nd, it's not smooth, instead it jumps into gear, is this a clutch adjustment of something in the shifting mechanism ?

As always thanks for the help, Rob

I'll take a stab...

Does your bike have both a tail light and a brake light? Or is it all the same bulb? Either way, it sounds like your wiring is backwards to the brake switch.

Second issue sounds like a clutch cable adjustment to me.

1) Yes, bad ground i think. Make sure that the taillight housing is grounded to the frame well.

2) the problem is only from 1st to 2nd ? Yeah, try clutch cable adjustments ..but it could be a couple other things. Another easy and cheap thing to replace is the small brass push-pin that's just inside your clutch cover. They get a slot worn into the bottom that make clutch finessing much harder - they go from ON to OFF real severely and not gradually.

Update, Found the tail light problem, bad ground to the light housing. Shit soldering job broke loose. Slowly getting everything in order, nothing major, just annoying little things.
