BUT

My birthday is coming up ( halloween ) and i asked the wife if i could get a used mig welder setup for my b-day, so i can learn how to weld. I want to practice learning how to fill holes and such, buy some scrap steel that's the same gauge as a vespa frame, and spend my time drilling and filling and grinding holes to make them right.

I want to see how much work on this frame i can do myself... partly as a learning experience, and partly to save money. Also, i know what needs to be straight and what needs to be bent better than Rodney does... he's a great body + paint man, but he's no vespa expert, and he nearly hammered out the curved areas of the floorboards on my GS because he didn't know that the GS was the only vespa that actually had bowl-shaped floorboards. He had only ever done flat ones ( like the SS ).

Used to stick weld. Never did much
Mig. It's good to practice... GrindIng I found to be a bit tidious.
