To be fair I thought I would also put together a list of parts and tools to keep around for your series 3 that are somewhat cheap and will keep the UPS man away from your door a little longer and save cash on shipping. Remember this is not the U.K. (unless your reading this from the U.K.) and you can't just pop down to local shop for a cable or two.

manual (sticky's Complete Spanner's Workshop Manual by far the best)
tubes
engine seals
engine gasket set (make sure you know your top end size)
clutch plates/springs and NEW clutch nut. (soak corks in 30w overnight)
points and condenser (if you have them)
6v bulbs (headlight and taillight)
12v headlight bulbs if running a C.D.I.
carb gastet kit make sure to ask for the float and needle
small end bearing, and rings
fuel tap and fuel hose
flywheel Woodruff keys (very cheap so get a bunch) Vespa clutch key will aslo fit.
flywheel nuts and washers
NGK sparkplug cap
Brass exhaust nuts (should be replaced every time the exhaust is removed
NU205 bearing with spacer for LI/SX/TV cranks
NU2205 bearing without spacer if using a GP crank (sometimes you can get skf bearings cheap on ebay)

All this stuff is pretty cheap (maybe around $150 to $200), but it's usually enough to give your new old scoot a basic engine rebuild and bring piece of mind knowing you don't have to wait if there is a problem.
Also, ALWAYS have a set of inner cables especially the shifter and clutch ones and pinch bolts. Well, these are the most common things I have seen that get replaced. Things like bearings (other then the mag side), pistons, brake shoes tire etc I order when needed to save money.
Must have specialty Lammy tools are as follows...

clutch compressor tool
clutch basket holding tool
flywheel puller (GP or LI. Make sure you get the right one)
flywheel holder (3 window or 2)
forth hand tool
fork spring compressor ( very hard to find a nice strong one sometimes)
timing disk
hub puller
mag extractors
Rear hub holder

I have not listed all the specialist tools you might need, but these are my top 10. All these tools might be around $200 or so at places like Scooters O. Some tools you might need more then others. Also, if not running points it's very helpful to have a NEW C.D.I. and pickup box to test the old one with.

Not cheap but worth every penny is a motorcycle lift. Around $300.00 at Harbor Fright.

This list also goes out to the guys that been riding for years, brake down and can't ride again for a week or two because of something that only cost a few bucks. I also know from running my small scooter shop that scooterist are the cheapest people on planet earth, so it's best to stock up and remember the cheap man pays twice.

Nothing much. Just bored and screwing around on computer. Been back down to the dirty hippie circus lately?
