Ok Ok I'll jump in for a set as well if that helps. jimc, if payment is difficult I have a Paypal account that you could send money to and I'll pay for yours by check if need be. No need to send money to me until you get the product if this will be easier for all.

Brackets ordered - sort of
Okay, I placed the order today, but with a caveat. The shop is unwilling to budge on the price for the finish, but I have a lead on another shop that specializes in bead blasting. Therefore, the brackets are on order, and you can go ahead and order your footpegs; but I am not asking for your check just yet, because the final price will depend on whether or not the polishing is going to happen.
The price, as it stands right now, is $95 a set, which is $5 cheaper than last's years's batch even though made from much sturdier steel and includes the bumpers. One way or another, I will post a follow-up notice and send out PMs this weekend with the final ordering information and pricing. If you are U.S.-based, it continues to be checks only, but if you are outside the U.S., PM me, here may be another option for you. |

Thanks for doing all this work.
OAD, I'll be in touch once the price is finalised. So I have multiple UK bank accounts, a French one (that petrol thing), maybe I should get a US one as well? |

Sounds good rjeffb and let me add my thanks as well. Speaking of footpegs, who has recommendations?

UFP/LT final pricing
PMs are going out tomoroow, but here's the group announcement.
The second shop was only slightly cheaper at $10, but they made an offer I couldn't refuse: they'd let me do a partial run. Now, some here have said they wanted the finish (including me!) and some said they don't care. So I'm going to take half the order to the second shop and have them done. If you don't want the finish, it's $95, and if you do, it's $105. Obviously somebody is eventually going to have to take potluck (like when you're all the way in the last row in the airplane and they ran out of chicken before they get to you) but for right now I think I will have enough of both flavors for everybody. Full disclosure: if you want satin, it will take a few extra days, since I now have to take the brackets to another shop in another town (but one with a good mexican restaraunt Jimc, work out with you-know-who, your price will be an extra $US10 to cover the additional shipping. Sticky asked for peg recommendations, I'll start. I personally have Rusty Riders, and I know some others do as well. They feel great, are an exact fit for the brackets, and are very inexpensive; but they do not easily fold by themselves, and that should be one consideration in your choice (especially if you put big tires on the rear and drive very aggressively). |

+1 on Rusty Riders. If the pivot starts to get loose, you just tighten the nut a bit (for the belt-and-suspenders approach, use a nyloc nut).

I think I got a PM out to everyone. Sorry about the "form letter" reply, I wanted to let everybody know their info to get the ball rollling.
If you had asked for brackets and I did not PM you, please remind me and accept my humble apologies: it was not a slight, just old-age disorganization (see picture). Remember, satin will take an extra week. U.S. will go priority and you will get a tracking number. ![]() My super-deluxe order management tracking system

BTW Dave S those are absolutely awesome. I personally like flat pegs, more grip; but round pegs have a big advantage if like some here you may sometimes drive with your feet on the peg and sometimes just your toes (because no matter where you contact the peg, your foot is always tangental). But mainly, really cool bullet appearance!
And if you get the Rusty Riders and are confused by RablerDan's photo: you remove the radiator-clamp straps in the picture and throw them away, you just use the pegs (and either use the screws and spacer that came with them or buy a shorter screw). |

Thanks for confirming what I guessed - I can get very similar pegs here at a good price, round (preferred by me) rather than flat.

Foot Pegs
I prefer the round pegs, but would like ones which fold up if they make contact with pavement. Problem is I have gone to a lot of sites and can not seem to find what I am looking for and that will work with the rjeff brackets. Your suggestions will be welcome.

The check is in the mail...or at least the envelope. The envelope will be in the mail tomorrow. I went with these elliptical pegs...best of both worlds. http://www.jcwhitney.com/custom-mount-elliptical-rail-foot-pegs/p2002576.jcwx
Sometimes I may just want to hang my legs on the pegs and I think flat ones may cut into my calves. |

John, if you read thru this thread I believe you will see a number of pegs with links to web sites. If you are interested in knowing where somebody got their set, who didn't include a link I am sure they wouldn't mind a PM.
Sticky, pricey but nice...but I don't see the mounting screw size listed. or did I miss that? 12mm possible but hassle, 10mm minor task, 3/8 perfect fit. if possible I'd nail down the size before I ordered them, is JC Whitney good at technical questions like that? |

304 stainless! Carbide or TiN bit preferably on a press. Use cutting oil, medium-slow speed, and take your time. I don't recommend thru for larger than 12mm in the center hole (because it has other holes on both sides). On the other hand, that advice is based on a much thinner bracket.
Your car tire also has me concerned, the way it sits up on a corner. that seems like it would allow deeper banks, so be conservative taking steep turns with the pegs extended until you figure out your clearance. |

Yes I have access to a metal shop so I can do some mods if needed. If I think I can't then I will just send the pegs back and try again.
Very astute observation on my tire. I really can get it over pretty steep but the OD of the tire raises me up a bit. Haven't yet hit the centerstand with the new tire. But I will keep it in mind...always. |

Shop says order will be done Wednesday, that means the initial batch (non-satin) should go out this Thursday. Obviously this is contingient on my acceptance inspection. I plan on waving cash in front of them when I pick them up to give them a last chance to at least meet the other shop's price on the satin finish, since that would save transporting them around and possibly a few days shaved.

Success, success...and I'm picking a volunteer.
Brackets are in. I was EXTREMELY nervous about the pickup as it is pouring rain and I had to do the pickup sans scooter. A quick check of dimensions confirmed they made the parts properly, but with no scoot to actually mount one to, I drove home on faith.
As soon as the rain broke a little, I was outside mounting (no garage). Perfect fit - the bumper interferes with the tupperware about 2mm, which was dead-on with my estimate (no interference = the bracket may flex over bumps, too much interference = the bodywork may dent over time). Good news! The next bit of good news is the shop gave in on the price for the bead blast. I paid $10 a set cash and left 2/3 of the order behind. I'm off to California Sunday, they should be waiting when I return middle of next week. Good news! Now, here's the rub (or as you will see, here's the not-rub, quite literally). As I said, the bumper interterference on my /500 is exactly what I expected. However, I do not have a /250/300/400 to check. Based on photos that others have posted, I suspect but do not know that their floorboard is slightly inboard of a /500. What that could mean is that the bumpers may interfere less, or not at all. I already located at Home Depot a variety of little vinyl and silicon self-adhesive bumpers that could be stuck to the tupperware directly under the bumper to close any gap. I'd be glad to buy a pile of them (they're incredibly cheap) and just throw a pair into the box for anyone with a /250/400, but I don't know which one is the appropriate size or, at this point, if they are going to even be needed. So, whoever first mounts the UFP/LT on a /250 or /400, please do the following: mount as usual (IF there is interference, the bracket is going to want to push itself back, so my instructions to shove the bracket forward when doing the final tighten is even more important than usual) and check that the bumper is actually touching the body. It should be just starting to "mush" against the panel. If it is not, measure how big a gap there is, head to Home Depot or Lowes and buy whatever small, cheap, and kinda-soft kinda-rigid (the hardest rubber that is still soft and pliable enough to conform to the tupperware's curve, I suppose) stick-on bumper they have that is a millimeter or two thicker than that gap. Mark with non-permanent ink the spot directly where the bumper is closest. Remove the bracket, clean the spot, stick the stick-on bumper there, remount the bracket, confirm that you now have some degree of mush factor...and tell me which bumper you bought (pictures appreciated also). How critical is this? It depends. I've been driving with a prototype for several weeks in which the bumper did not touch at all (the released design was deliberately brought inboard a touch specifically for this reason), leaving about a 2mm gap. No problems whatsoever. But if I hit a really big pothole, I would want that contact to take up the stress. |

Zip code 10003, I see your brackets are at your local post office. They should be delivered today or tomorrow.
Checked in with the shop, satin finish is due to be started today, so definitely should be able to ship when I return next Thursday. |

And lemme tell ya, the satin bracket I'm holding right now is Beautiful!
First order of business: brackets are done. Priority is to Jimc and X-nem since they are outside U.S. so longer shipping. After you two, orders will be filled in sequence received. I hope to get everything out tomorrow (in California till middle of next week) but first came, first served. I got another four sets shipped this afternoon - check second post in thread for your status. Second: The shop mentioned something to me about scratching and I followed up with Bravo Two Four. Any metal, no matter how hard, can be scratched by something harder or equally hard. Usually you don't notice, but you will on these brackets. So like Siamese fish, they need to be kept apart. Those of you who already have UFPs know I usually stick two together, place some screws on them, and tape them together. Not anymore; these will be individually wrapped and the screws will be outside, so check for the screws before you toss the box. No, your boots won't scratch the metal (um, unless they have carbide studs) but do take care installing them and you're forcing a screw in with a hardened allen key - try not to slip. Finally: if you've been waiting to order pegs, do so now. ⚠️ Last edited by rjeffb on UTC; edited 4 times

Are there any sets unspoken for in this production run? If so, I'd like to obtain a set. Satin finish, with bumpers. For a 500. If available, please PM with logistics info.

Here's an interesting piece of UFP trivia: I originally designed them to stand up on. One ear in front (the current design) for cruising, and another directly below the floorboard for conventional riding. This was quickly abandoned when I realized that the U-channel under the floorboard lacks sufficient strength to support a rider's weight applied as a side torque.
