Just posted pictures of the satin and unfinished UFP/LTs in post #1 of this thread.

All brackets for which I have received checks have gone out. See second post in thread.

Sticky, your shipment is in Jacksonville, which is I believe much closer to you than Miami. Looks like they're heading in the right direction after all!

At some point in the near future I am going to start a new thread just on the UFP/LTs, since this thread contains a lot of now-obsolete discussion of the now-obsolete UFP/3s. Not just yet, since that would be confusing for people whose shipments are in-transit.

Re: pegs for the bracket
>Can someone tell me if these will work?

Difficult to say, since it does not specify the screw thread. Best bet is to contact JC Whitney and ask if they know the thread (they probably don't) or in lieu of that if they will tell you the manufacturer and mfg. model (which they definitely will know). 3/8" thread = perfect, 10mm = minimal trouble, 12mm = do-able but a pain and possibly not worth the trouble.

If you cannot get that far...StickyFrog ordered a different peg set from JC Whitney. While YMMV, if his pegs fit without major modification you at least have some reason for hope that these will as well, since they may be sourced from the same manufacturer.

Speaking of Sticky, I see your brackets were in fact delivered. What was on the shipping label - did I get the zip code wrong after all?

Here is the text from the footpegs someone ordered. It looks like these JCWhitney pegs might be too thick? Or is that the thickness that those u-clamps fit around?

CUSTOM-MOUNT ELLIPTICAL RAIL FOOT PEGS
* Adjustable pegs, clamp-on and fold-up
* Custom-mount for bars 1", 1-1/4" or 1-1/8" in diameter
* Adds riding comfort, better footing plus extra style to your cruiser or touring cycle

Chrome-plated, die-cast metal elliptical pegs feature large foot contact area for comfort and support. Black nonslip rubber rail inserts add contrast and help absorb road shock. Approx. 2-3/8"W x 4-1/4"L x 1-3/8" thick (tapers to 2"W). Clamp-on mounting. After mounting, pegs can be adjusted to your individual riding style (use hex wrench included). Pegs fold up neatly out of the way when not needed. Sold in pairs only.

Precisely so, those were the wider (and more expensive) pegs from JC Whitney that StickyFrog intents to use. Those are the dimensions of the highway bar tubes that the u-clamps can fit around. You would wind up removing the screw, tossing the clamps, and then using the screw and the pegs with the UFP. It's the diameter of that screw that is important...and unknown.

update on mine. I went to the local shop got some drag specialties universal highway pegs for 21.95 had to go to lowes and get a shorter bolt for them though. polished and installed. they look good and fit well. I do like the extra stiffness as compared to the first run ones.

OK got them today Jeff. Wife admitted that she didn't check yesterday so I get a free pass in the future. Anyway I am in agreement with Jim. Beautiful!!! The pegs I got fit perfectly so dmosh and mvtroiano prolly a good bet. But they will take em back if not.

Here are some pics. Hoping to install this week. Oh and btw Jeff...you had the zipcode right on the box.

Pegs fit!

So I suppose this will grant you specific bragging rights over Fuzzy...

StickyFrog is sorely trying my patience, as I want to know if those pegs work out so I can decide to order some for myself!

Jim, I thought you wanted round pegs? What made you change your mind?

Hey folks, this was stated in the very first post but to repeat: the longer included screw goes in the back, the original front screw gets re-used.

I went with the oval shape thinking if I mount them at a certain angle it will be more comfortable to rest the backs of my ankles on them ufo style

Yeah this pegs fit perfectly in the holes on the brackets. Gonna try to mount them tonight if I can get out of some honey-do's.

I am indebted to UFO (one of the contributors to the thread Sticky references), whose innovative brackets introduced the idea of using the existing floorboard anchor points to mount the brackets to. The significant change with the UFPs (and no, "UFO" versus "UFP" is no coincidence) is that UFO's idea put your feet wider but unfotunately higher than the floorboard, while the UFP puts your feet wider, further out, and most importantly lower. That last bit is what took all the engineering, as putting your feet below the floorboard introduces new forces and stresses.

Jim, it's the sign of a Real Man who can change his mind. If Shaw didn't say that, he should have.

Just got mine in thanks Richard. But am wondering...do I use the original screws already in the diamond plate or something else. And what's a recommended foot peg to use with these?

250 Install
Just installed my brackets and pegs. I absolutely love them. Install was easy peasy with only one delay. The front stock screw on the 250 is not long enough but I found a way around it temporarily...see pics.

Went for a test ride and I see what Fuzzy has raved about. Seems like a totally different bike. Feels like you are on a cruiser. Tried a bit to see if I could scrape the pegs but didn't. Could though but not in the normal riding range.

Here are some pics:

Used some phillips points with blue line chalk to find where the holes go on the mat.

Found out that the front screw is not long enough on a 250 but I got lucky and found one I could swap out. The longer one came from that hole....the shorter one is the original front one.

Right side mounted. Is this how it should look Jeff?

Good, gooder, excellent. To my knowledge, you're the first /250. The replacement screws in the front look terrible IMHO - just ask and I will send you some more of the longer SS screws gratis.

Nobody with a /400 has mentioned this, though...why would a /250 and a /400 use different length stock screws?

New policy: anyone buying brackets for a /250, mention that fact when ordering and I'll provide four long screws instead of two.

People who are installing on a /400: are you finding that the front screws are too short? Plenty of people have previously installed these on /400s by now, but I'm open to improvements...

Loved the blue chalk/pointy screwdriver bit idea for locating the hole centers, you're one ingenious fellow.

But the best news of all is the bumper mushiness. I take it that is exactly how it worked out with no modifications? That's precisely how it is supposed to look.

We'll all be interested in your opinion of those pegs after some weeks of use. My concern is that they are relatively short, have no serious lip on the end, and appear to have no built-in dihedral (although the brackets have 5 degrees each specifically for pegs lacking dihedral)...so I'm curious if you will find your feet wanting to slip off in use.

I agree Jeff the front screws look bad but will work till you send me the replacements which I would appreciate if you have extras. If not, no worries...I will find some. Just want to express my thanks and admiration to you for designing and making such a great solution! You are a definitely a credit to this group and we are lucky to have you as a part of it.

PS and yeah the pic i took of the bumper was with no modifications and the bracket pushed forward.

They'll be in the mail tomorrow. Please do me a favor, seeing as how your situation appears to call for the longest screws of all. You (and everybody else) may have noticed that the longer screws I provided are very, very long (40mm to be precise). Last year I was providing 35mm, which is more than long enough to fit a /500, but I switched to the more expensive 40mm this year because of the uncertainly over /400s and /250s in combination with the now-thicker steel. I would like to switch back to 35mm if I can.

So, when you get the new screws, please back everything out and (assuming you have a caliper or ruler in mm) screw them back in, front and back, until the head has 6mm still to go. Tell me if if both screws are fully engaged (at least two full threads past all the way through the nut). If not, I'll continue to source the 40mm and I'll exhaust my remaining 35mms to buyers for MP3/500s.

That's funny...I didn't know there were crocs in NORTHERN Florida...

P.S. So Sky, wouldn't you think that a pair of nice footpegs would increase your scooter's resale value?...

Bracket shipments soon to be on-hold
I will be on vacation from May 27 through June 14, during which time no brackets will ship (and any checks coming in will be held at my Post Office). Any order not received by the previous Monday or Tuesday will likely not ship until after I return, so get those orders in right now! To clarify: an "order" means I have a check to cash, not just that you PM'd me.

Now OAD, you almost certainly don't have interfering ("mushed") bumpers (OAD got my prototype /LTs, which are a bit wider than the production model). Did you put an additional stick-on bumper underneath? What's with the red rectangle? edit - oh I see, it's some sort of bumper sticker (as opposed to an actual "bumper...")

I could swear I've seen those pegs somewhere before...

the red triangle is a diablo tire sticker. If you noticed they are not the same as when you sent them I took my dremel and some semichrome polish and buffed them. The bumpers you put on are perfect I just left them alone.

drag specialty on the pegs $21.95 at my local aftermarket shop.

Last year you wanted to paint or powder-coat them. I objected, and still think that unwise on the UFP/3 due to their flexing. However, I think the /LT would work very nicely even after coating due to the virtually non-existant flexing...if you're still in that frame of mind.
