Hi all again,

I am decided to buy a Vespa in the next few days. However I am not sure about which model should I go for. I like the GTS and I think is more suitable with my 90Kg weight but a new one is over my budget. Now my options are second hand GTS (125) or a new LX(125). The new LX (3600usd) of course comes with warranty, which is a good point but not enough to make me choose it. I found two GTS in a second hand stuff magazine one of 2007 with 17.000km (3600usd) and another of 2005 with 12.000 km(3000usd).

Which one would you choose? Is there any difference between different year models? Are the 2005 and 2007 the same as the 2009?

Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Dani.

When it comes to size you skills will matter most if you tall the GTS is a nice scooter. it comes fuel injected. and its fast. I've seen women 4'4" riding Harleys so I think your skills dictate the size of scooter.

personally if i was getting a 125cc scooter i'd go for the LX. it is physically smaller and more nimble - i've never seen the point of putting a 125cc engine into the big-bummed GTS body. if it's the 'fit' you're worried about, then the only way you'll be able to tell which is best for you is by test-riding them, or at least sitting on them.

regarding the warranty - i've never owned a scooter from new and have never found the absence of a warranty to be a problem.

Well, you do get 14.75 HP with the GTS as compared to 10 HP in the LX.
Granted, it's in a more full figured package.

This years GTS 125 is the first Piaggio 125 cc engine with electronic injection. Still even the carburettor models of past years gives an impressive ride. You get a scoot that is more motocycle with the GTS. Larger tyres, better suspension, rear discbrake etc. make for a safer and more comfortable ride in higher speed. My GTS 125 makes easily 75 mph on the freeway, overtaking the occasional LX 125 that dares to enter freeways.

+1 We faced the same dilemma but got the GT 200 for less than a new LX. If it were a 125, I would have deff gone with the LX. Nimbleness is the key word here. I don't buy new either, so I would have tried to find a USED LX.

I had a gts 125 and now have a gts 125 super and i love both machines totally! i have never owned a lx so i can't comment on them, but the price difference tells you get more with the gts. Don't get me wrong i'm not saying anything bad about the lx but the gts is such a great machine you would love it!!! So go for the gts.... 8)
