People made light of your barely comprehensible run on sentence. What exactly does that have to do with small town culture, calvinism, or New York?

Sniff...sniff...
Please pass the tissues.
I think that we forget sometimes that this 'family' of scooterists use sarcasm as an integral component of their witty reparté. I think two things we should all remember: 1) Some can have their feelings hurt by insensitive commentary from faceless, anonymous cyberfriends and 2) We should all learn to use punctuation appropriately and with humble sincerity... |

Steve -
Forums can be useful places to some extent. However, when someone posts an item that appears to not have too much effort put into it to at least try and check spelling and punctuation, why then would you expect others to put a whole lot of effort into useful replies? If you would consider using Firefox as a browser, it will leave a little red line under words that might be spelled incorrectly. If you then right mouse click it can give you suggested words. Sorry about what happened to you. But come on, at least consider what your posts look like to others. A forum is not text messaging, with all the shortcuts and run on sentences. Treat it like a conversation and others will as well. Some will still be morons, but you won't solve that problem anyway. Good luck with your scoot. Now where did I leave my popcorn? |

If you look, there was, amongst the ribaldry a genuine attempt to solve your problem, or at least an effort to ask for clarification. I have had my leg pulled for being 'British', indeed my response was an attempt, obviously a poor attempt, to show how overblown some British people can be. It was also an attempt to illustrate how somebody talking in a broad cockney patois might have difficulty communicating with someone using ostensibly the same language but with a broad accent from elsewhere. If it fell flat, sorry. Jimc is probably one of your best bets for finding the problem and solving it. |

It'd also help if Steve stated what model MP3 he had - it makes a difference to the list of possible problems (one spark plug or two, for instance). He may think us rude, I think it's a bit much to expect those who want to help to have to trawl through previous posts to find this out.
No mention of what the immobiliser LED was conveying. No mention if the kill-switch had been checked as working. No mention of whether the bike then started and ran OK - or not. So with so few clues - let's just say it was an electrical problem. |

PS I would like to hear more on how the dealer fixed your MP3? Jon The correct contraction of "you are" is "you're", not "your" which is a possessive pronominal adjective. Also, could you please explain to us the meaning of verbel skills and writting skills? I am unfamiliar with these concepts. Respectfully yours Gerbil Skills, not to be confused with Verbel skills |

The problem here is not sarcasm but, comprehension. Hard to help if you have no idea what is being asked.

Not everyone is capable of writing well, either from lack of mental ability or from a crappy education ( rampant in the U.S.).
You have to be understood to be answered though. |

Thought to myself, don't want to more more effort in figuring out what it means than the OP put in to writing it. Went back to forum. What is a fellow MVer to do? |

Well, I lost any potential sympathy when this gentleman had the audacity to derogatorily accuse me of being an 'Elitist' in a pm to my account. Let me say that I am not an elitist, never would be considered one by those who know me, and certainly would have been taken down a notch by my family if I had ever shown such tendencies.
Now, they did expect me to be educated, willing to learn and to improve my lot in life. If the ability to construct complete sentences and to use words and language reasonably well is 'Elitist', then let us hope our children ALL turn out to be elitist. People often expect 'the World' to understand their gibberish because they didn't take the time or effort to improve their communication skills. Sorry. I am not here to coddle the original poster. I believe he was a bit thin-skinned, and over-sensitive in his reaction to the responses he received. Now, my apologies to the forum. The original poster really irked me in that pm... |
