i have been having problems with my vespa not giving the .7 second blink to indicate ignition is ready & it fails to start.one person had posted disconnecting module & it would then work, did this & it started , but the problem came back. i have checked according to manual test , power between term 4 & ground power is there &term 4 to term 8 & power is there. next test for power from term5 to term 8 key on & battery voltage is there in all test other test were battery voltage. if i have to replace this module are there refurbished ones or different maker than original ? if there could be another problem would appreciate help. when the security is on blinking for 48 hours it starts once time out it won,t. turn switch off & on ocasionally it will come backto ignition blink & start, but can't depend on it. thanks nelson

What sequence of flashes does the LED make in the faulty condition? The fact that it is intermittent immediately makes me suspect the aerial connection/wiring.

03 et4 module problrms?
jimc when key is turned on & it is going to run it give the .7 second blink of the led & starts right up. when it is turned off after running you get the normal flash indicating security is on blinks for 48 hours goes out then usually will not give the .7 sec blink & no start. no other blinking codes that are shown in manual.

Sounds like a dodgy ignition switch then. The switch body is a separate item, no huge biggy to replace - but check it with a multimeter first to confirm!
p.s. What happens if you try to start it within the 48hrs? |

jimc it usually starts within the 48 hour period. i'm think the module is bad , but hope it isn't. when it is running it runs fine like nothing was wrong.the manual states to replace module after passing the test i mentioned in my post.

My ET4 code light blinks all the time
Not 2-3 blinks and then on or no blinking at all. That would be easy to fix from the service manual.
It blinks all the time, using the red key doesn't help. battery and fuses are good. Anybody gotta clue?? Transponder? Take out a 2nd mortgage and take it to the dealer? |

03 et4 module problrms?
i want to explain how the led light is working.when you turn key on & it gives a .7 second on led that tells ignition is possible & it will start & run good, when turned off led blinks off & on for 48 hours which is normal always did this & is right by manual, whithin thsi 48 hour period you can turn key on & get .7 led & it will start & run. if you let it time out after 48 hours it usually will not give the .7 led blink & will not start . i can unplug wires on module & plug them back up & it will give .7 led & start, but problem comes back with no .7 led no start very strange. i have looked at trouble codes in repair manual but it doesn't show any of the trouble codes but there is definetly a problem. look at original post & it shows my test according to manual.
