$800 for a mangled "non repairable" titled scoot with 23k miles? Doesn't sound like a DoD to me.
Here's what is a deal of a lifetime... RetroGuy's scooter, P125, pretty nice, engine might need seals eventually..... $1600 http://scoot.net/classifieds/forsale.html?id=53169 ![]() |

Well I would like to thank Larry for posting it and spreading the word. Yes I am not sure it's the deal of the day. I was really going for FPOD. Fair price of the day. Obviously I am not expecting what I put into it. I can also accept the questions about why I'm selling. Just put it in one of the categories of ...lesson learned, Rookie mistake, Retro is a moron or ...it took me on the path to the scooter I really love. I buy into the latter reason. Either way, I try not to look back, I'm not going that way.

That's as good a reason as any. I have a Vespa 90 small frame I'm about to restore. I love this bike. There's just something about small frames that makes them really fun, both to ride and work on.

Retro, It's your scoot, do what you want. No explanations necessary.. You now have one that suits you better. That's fine. I think your price on the P is more than fair and if I had the dollars, I would pick it up myself. I would rather work on mechanical that paint and body work any day.

Automatic? Are you referring to the "electronic" by mistake? Rally's are shifty's, not automatic. The electronic means it has an electronic ignition instead of points...

Saw this one on eBay. No stripes, but looks pretty decent. Still 2 days left, so no telling how much it may go for. |

Actually I really don't have the garage space.....that's why I sold my P200 recently. At the price he is asking though and the mileage it's right up my alley. Even if I don't keep it long term I know if I get it it'll be running again and at least in the hands of a vintage scooterist rather than some dreamers garage still rotting away.
I talked to the guy on the phone. He said he's had a lot of out of state interest but he want's it gone and doesn't want to deal with shipping or not in person buyers. Looks like I may luck out on this one and just have to bite the bullet and rent a garage. First world problems, I know. |

I'd probably spend more money getting it to Vancouver/taxes/importing than the darn thing would cost As far as taxes, import fees etc, what if you bring it in as parts for now? If you did come down & get it, you could swing by my place for a couple hours and it would then qualify as 'parts' We could quickly pull the headset, fork, motor & seat, tank - now you have a frame and a couple boxes of parts. Be sure to bring a camera if this appeals to you. If you're serious about the bike, ask Rob about it. Good luck! |

Hear that sikkinixx? V oodoo just made you an offer you can't refuse. Now it's too good a deal to pass up.
Note I said he'll spend twice the cost fixing and tinkering with it. He won't spend it all at once, but he'll spend it. We all know the drill. Getting the scoot running is just the beginning. "Woo hoo it starts!" ... couple trips around the block later ... "Hmmm, these brakes are a little sketchy. Tires are kinda worn too." cha-ching! $$ "Shocks seem kinda spongy... probably should get a new spring too.." cha-ching! cha-ching! $$ "Hey, how come the head light and tail light stopped working?" cha-ching! $$ "Oooo look at these pretty seats in the SIP catalog..." cha-CHING! $$$ "Sure would be nice if the scoot went a little faster ... hmmm.. carb, pipe, kit, clutch " CHING, ka CHING ka CHING.. $$$$ "Hey, what's this puddle of gas?" ching! $ "Man those scoots at that rally were gorgeous. Paint job?" cha-CHINGITY CHING CHING! $$$$$ It won't be spent all at once, but over the course of two years, it'll be spent. Note, however I said he'll love every minute of it. |

Good luck! $350 in my Vespa fund, so we'll see how that grows in the next while and hopefully a similar situation comes along. Hell I don't even have a motorcycle license yet, I've only bombed around on 50cc'rs! Seattle seems like the place to look when it is time though, I poke around scoot.net/craigslist and there always seems to be something snazzy and MUCH cheaper than up here. (on a related note, I'm taking the wife down to Seattle this weekend for a birthday baseball game, Go Ms!) |
