I do believe that 05 Stella falls into the years of the bad crankhafts. It was no fault of LML, not that LML is some gleaming beacon of quality, but like all large manufacturers LML subcontracts out certain parts, one of which is casting the crankshaft. The subcontractor LML used during a certain timespan for casting the crank was basically defrauding LML by using a lower quality, cheaper steel alloy than LML specified. They thought they could get away with it, but once hundreds, if not thousands, of Stellas and Stars were coming back with snapped cranks after very little time, well LML found out. Believe there was a criminal case and everything in India.

The years of Stella cranks going bad are any year they were manufactured, or at least in the case of USA years 2003 -2009. Still, if that scoot was near me, I would take a look at it. It is already broken and unless the crank took the top end and Fubarred the case halves, it is still a decent deal.

I'd be all over that Stella for $400.
I've got an '05 that I've ridden the crap out of for 10 years now, year round Chicago including winter and the only bad thing that's ever happened to it is me wrenching on it. |

Ha! Ain't it the truth. I had a '03, not a bad scoot once the original pipe was replaced. It had it's problems, but never let me down in the three years and 12,000 miles I had owned it. |

In my opinion the to do that body correctly the colors would have to be solid, not metal flake, unless the flakes were Huge! And the lines should not be so straight, more curvy to accentuate the natural lines or make them POP even more by going over the top. But I've painted a T120 with a correct Union Jack on the tank. Love the headlight tho, And the primer one looks a lot better imho, because of the lines and solid, look where the lines are! |

For $300 I'd do it if the bottom is as good as the other side and if I didn't have one that looks almost the same. In addition to a lovely old motorless patina'd roundtail(essentially complete) , I see half a flywheel, a kickstart lever, a clutch cover, a wheel, a speedometer(?) and maybe a spark plug that I'd use.

I know it's not a Vespa, but I've never seen a Lambretta THIS cheap! 1964 lambretta cento scooter - $700 (South nh) I have a 1964 lambretta cento Italian scooter. (Like a Vespa) All original in need of a resto.....paint job and some minor tinkering. Or ride it as is. No rot just very light rust in a few small spots. It's only missing the two screws that hold the air filter intake on. I have the intake not shown in the pics screws can be bought at Home Depot. It did run and drive before I put it away in the basement kept warm and dry. It has a new piston and rings. It also has a new muffler. Open to 3 wheeler or enduro street legal dirt bike trades above 300cc or a kids atv/atc ![]() ![]() |

I think this may be Speedys twin! As far as i can tell It seems to match Speedy. The motor number is only 160 digits different! Mine came with a single seat. Talking about Lambrettas and Vespas, kind of funny how Vespa is sort of THE brand name everyone knows, but Lambrettas command more money. I had a laugh when I sped through it and thought he said he would take a 3 wheeler, dual sport, or kid as trade. |

Lambretta J-range (small ones) are sloooowwwww. Best of the bunch are the Starstreams. There are basically no tuning options unless you make your own. Adam of Solepower scooters made an awesome cento barrel himself, more details on LCUSA. But there's just no competition on smallframes, the Vespa parts that are available are crazy and relatively cheap. Vespa smallies = super fun .

Innocenti seized operations in 1971 while Piaggio trucked on. Yes - Serveta and SIL continued. So Vespa became more of a global household name. But building the same thing for next 20 years with really nothing new. I belive had Innocenti not been killed by BMC we would have seen some cool stuff. I love both my Lambrettas and Vespas. Lambrettas for power and handling. Vespas for reliability and ease of maintenance. |
