This one is kind of a deal... GS 160 mk 1 for (currently) $2000.
It's complete and original. Some serious rust in the frame, but salvageable. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1962-VESPA-GS-rare-Italian-scooter-Piaggio-/192239229742?hash=item2cc259db2e:g:GJ4AAOSwbopZVCyg&vxp=mtr

That's a nice project, but is this really fixable? Not trolling. Genuinely curious.
It looks like the rubber strips are holding the floor together.

That Lambretta's a beauty.
Is it my imagination or is there suddenly an abundance of nice old scoots in Minnesota? |

Even in its condition $3k for an LD isn't exactly DOTD territory. LD's are slowwwww so you need to want to ride slow but they are beautiful. You need the right kind of buyer. If I were going to ride that slow I'd want a D model - they are so weird they are awesome. No wasted weight on styling or panels on those.

I know next to nothing about Lambrettas or what they're worth. That scoot just has style written all over it.

I don't know if this counts as a deal but I thought I'd share it since I know the bike. It has been around Olympia since 2010 or so. I've mostly seen it at toy runs and parades but it certainly looks to have gotten more use than that along with some of the usual dings and scratches. Not certain she still has it but I've seen it with a stock seat on it as well. Rebadged Stella. I forgot to snap a pic of the mileage but I can go back and do that if anyone is interested.

The ad says that the motor has been rebuilt... new pistons, piston rings... I can just imagine getting hte mising parts is pricey as I am building a fj40 toyota anow and a K100 bmw... crazy but fun.

it's crazy to see people selling trashed stellas at vintage vespa prices. around here there are some on cg that seem to be at proper pricing for their wear and tear. i wouldn't pay more than five hundred for that stella. at this point, i just want to find a crashed one with a front end in good shape.

Probably a good thing it's far away and I don't jump on these kind of 'opportunities' any more.
Quote: There is a 1958 VB1 which is complete and was stored running with the fuel drained. A few early to mid 1960's VBB and VBA scooters , mostly complete. One I know has a seized engine. Most others complete and free. Mostly barn finds over the years. 1957 Allstate Handlebar model completely restored and sitting in primer ready for paint. About 1/2 dozen frames, both smallframe and large frame. All 1960's Also about 1/2 dozen engines, mostly VBB and I know there is one SS180 engine as well! About 2 dozen various shop and owners manuals. A number of boxes of small parts, like headlights, tail lights, speedometers, bulbs etc. much of it new old stock. Various luggage racks, tire racks etc, some of them NOS Seats, seat frames etc for Vespa mostly, some Lambretta Factory set of Vespa Engine tools and engine stand. Most of which is still in the wrapping with part number markings for reference. Also have a few Lambretta LD frames and engines that will go with it all. ![]() Nice VB1 though. |
