No one but me has heartburn about the fact that scoot has two gloveboxes, random chrome, a tractor seat, and ugly-ass hubcaps?
I'm thinking it's a Barn Bodge, not a DotD

That's some old paint and trim, eh
Doesn't look to have been touched in decades. Is it "normal" for that model to have the glove box and/or the horn doohickie?

chandlerman wrote: No one but me has heartburn about the fact that scoot has two gloveboxes, random chrome, a tractor seat, and ugly-ass hubcaps? I'm thinking it's a Barn Bodge, not a DotD I think it was much loved by somebody that threw a lot of spare cash at it and had interesting ideas about what's cool. That windshield is certainly his(her?) proudest acquisition I'd say - never seen one w/ such a huge skirt.* Those ugly 8" hubcaps are likely ancient Italian and look pristine, therefore probably worth more than some of my bikes to a Euro collector. ![]() Also notice the excellent rack w/ spare and folding platform and some kinda fancy horn cover doodad - just about everything a non-Mod could get in the mid sixties. I see clean straight floor trim and crisp undamaged floor edges and no "repairs" in original paint. This is when some collectors start checking further regardless of out of fashion accessories. If it was close by, I'd happily make room for it and start by removing things and trying to save the old paint. I don't see a serious dent or scratch on it. Without inspecting, I'm guessing $1000 is a deal and you might get most of it back peddling what you pull off. |

I'd agree with the lads, appears to be a Period piece and I'd be all over it if local.
The only thing that's really flagging up for me is the Tar/ bitumen that has been painted over the floorboards. Would want to have a look at what's going on with that. |

I've called that number before about older dirt bikes...
... and the guy in Spencer/Leicester has always seemed stingy with info about any machines I've asked about. I've never gone in person because of the vibe he gives off over the phone. "No. Yes. I don't know," etc. He flips stuff pretty quickly, I think, and it's not the first Vespa I've seen him advertise.
It's also $400 more than it was 2 days ago. Well spotted, Larrytsg. That being said, someone who sees value here and wants a tip to tail resto (or parts) may be interested in the scoot anyway. |

Vespa PX150 - $1750 (Boylston Street, Boston)
https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/mcy/d/vespa-px150/6540728740.html This is a collector's edition (#5 of 500 made) by Piaggio in Italy of a very classic Vespa design, the PX-150. It has the vintage look of the classic Vespa, four-speed manual shift with both automatic and kick start. I have owned it since 2005, and have ridden it very, very little (1,500 miles). I am moving out of state and do not want to pay to transport it, but am very sad to see it go. If you are interested, contact me soon, as I am leaving at the end of March, but end of this weekend would be ideal. Due to my timeline, I am willing to negotiate the price. The bike is in perfect condition, except for some slight dings on the right side. This bike is for the true Vespa enthusiast, and is a great deal. ![]() ![]() |

Not sure what to do with this Vespa, I bought it back in 2012 from a friend, he used to use it back in 1995. is not perfect but was told to keep it the way it is..
got an offer for $2250 as is, for some reason the manufacturing tag date is showing 1974 but the title show 1977. I would like to take her apart, detail every corner, keeping as much original as possible but change the seats and handles in red, I also want professionally paint the some areas but was advised to keep it all original. If anyone is interested on buying her offers over $2500 will be considered. I do not like to ride her if is not perfect. |

I wish my SV were in that good of condition. I honestly wouldn't touch it cosmetically. It's in great shape, looks-wise. If it's in as good shape mechanically, and you aren't interested in it because it's showing its age and isn't "perfect", sell it. For someone else, it'll be perfect as is.

By the tag it hasn't been on the road since 96. Gonna take a lot of going over after sitting for 22 years. Yes I know you said it had been "running" but it hasn't been ridden (legally) for a long tome.

I wouldn't be surprised if the motor needs new seals. |

The pictures make it look as if it was well taken care of, and that's the best most people can expect. People restore these scooters to better than factory... taking hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars, and when they're done with the project, realize they don't like to ride scooters. Just ride it, fix anything that's broken. If you don't want to do that, there's plenty of people here who would love that scooter as-is. |

You should just list the bike here if you don't want it and are simply trying to sell it: https://modernvespa.com/forum/forum3 . $2500 is not Deal of the Day territory for a 70's Sprint, it's probably a fair price if the bike checks out w/ ZERO problems, but $2250 is a fair price as well . This thread is NOT a 'My Bike is For Sale' thread unless you are offering something up that is below market - that's what DOD means. Come back when you are well under 2K and we'll get excited. Meanwhile, hope you get a good price and your $2250 guy doesn't find another bike & comes back w/ a higher offer. If you don't NEED the dough or the space and can hold out for another six years, you may get your price - it is a nice bike. Or maybe list it in Europe and some collector will go nuts for a legit USA Sprint and happily eat the shipping charges. |

In 2012 a good Vespa classic mechanic got it in shape.
I took the battery out and fuel, I just ordered a new one , will add fuel and oil soon toher. Trany, brakes were doing good. Was able to drive around the marina about a week. Please don't hijack threads with off-topic posts. Second the link you posted isn't really a deal of the day which is the topic of this long running thread. You may want to go back a bit and read some of the previous posts to get a feeling for what a "Deal of the Day" is. |

1974/77 Vespa Sprint Veloce Original
Seems to me that maybe you are not aware of the real value of this old lady, as you can see on ebay offers already overcome on mine the $3000 mark and the $2000 on the one in CA (repainted and trired!) This weekend we entertained several visitors, our listing is open, it will end when we want it to end. Price is now set at $4500. Priceless for originality was the answer I was looking for.
Stick together, you deserve each other.

Looks legit.
https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/mcy/d/vintage-1980-vespa-100-sport/6558448679.html 1980 Vespa 100 Sport. Original dealer sticker is still intact. From the looks of it, this scooter was originally purchased from Vespa of San Diego. This is what they call a "small-frame" Vespa since it's not a big full size frame. I acquired this from a friend a few years back, with the intention of doing a restoration project with my kids. He also who had the intention of restoring it, and had a few parts already sandblasted. The frame & parts sat on the side of his yard, and a few parts got rained on. My friend also had the intention of restoring it, but he also had no time. Most of the little parts are in boxes. Now is your chance to personally tinker with these fun simple 2-stroke scooter. You can eventually make it into a 4-speed if you source the parts to make it into that. A 125cc kit may be available for this motor, or you can just swap the cylinder & head. I'm not quite positive on that though. They are fun projects to restore since I've restored a couple of vintage Vespa's back in the mid 90's. Asking $700. Comes with a Bill of Sale only. E-mail for any questions. Thanks!! ![]() |
