Maybe one of you guys is close enough and absolutely needs something like this.

Said to be complete, motor & all gears turn over and it has papers.

Somebody go get it, get it running and let me take it for a spin? 8)
This is beyond tempting if I lived close to there, I have a friend who burns around on an identical one but its the 250 model, haha

Looks rough, but apparently runs! Maybe it'll be good for parts or engine. We'll see if it shows up at Olympia Scooter Company - Ha!

I totally agree. For $150, I'd jump on that with both feet if I was local to it.

the front disc setup and fork, plus the motor and whatever other parts you could salvage, even if you turned the frame into a planter.

What can I say? Jump on it, save the fork, disk brake & headset for use on your real bike when you feel up to it, then part out the rest to double or triple your money back for all that hard work you had to do? You found it, you get it - send nephew!

Looks like newish aftermarket shock on there

They started putting the reservoir shocks on the Stella's at some point, but I'm not sure exactly when. If it's an '03, it would be aftermarket, though, I agree.

I can't afford the nephew, or should I say, I can't afford his gas and travel expenses! Oh, he'd jump in his truck today, but I cannot ask him, in good conscience, and don't have the $$$ to pay him. BUT maybe there is someone here in town I know that might be heading down there. Hmmm - I know I guy that works for the state lottery and drives all over the state in a van - KennyP - I think I'm gonna give you a call!!!

I know it has been mentioned other places on this forum but, What is the problem so many sellers have with taking a decent picture of something they are putting on Craig's List or Ebay?

It's not like the "OLD DAYS" when you would take a picture and then send the film in to be developed and a week later pick up the pictures at the drug store to find out they looked like crap. Cell phone or digital cameras take dozens of pictures and you can see them right now. If they are out of focus or there is a shadow making them look bad take another!

I was literally offering a fuel tank to a guy free for the shipping and I took at least half a dozen pictures from various angles to email to him and even apologized that the shallow dent was hard to see in the pictures.

People who are asking hundreds of dollars and they can't even move the trash a couple feet away!

Vespa p125x
It's been suggested that I post the deal I got here "for inspiration."

1979 P125X $200 with title and we found the keys.

Somehow I beat out the others and got lucky. I did have to drive 12 hours round trip though... I left at 4am so I could get there first (someone was on the phone with the seller while I was looking it over.) Whew! I had originally passed on it on Craigslist because it said that it had no engine.... but I could that it was there in the pictures- the seller had meant that the engine wasn't working-cylinder and studs were off.

Appears complete and pretty clean, despite the dust and stored indoors for at least 15 years. Started another thread about it in "Not So Modern."

This one had been on eBay with a price at $999, although the seller said he didn't know what it was worth, but to make an offer.

EDIT: It's still there:

You got an incredible buy on the scoot you did get though.

Wow. Key, title, and it looks great, all for $200.

You should have started a new thread called "steal of the day."

Good job!

Meanwhile at the other end of the spectrum, we have here a Lambretta Jet 200 in original paint for a mere $4200.
I know little about Lambrettas, but isn't this a top model and don't they usually go for considerably more? Or is this one a lower valued Indian made version?

Spanish made. At 4200 it's priced appropriately. If it were an Italian SX200 it would be worth double.

Nice Serveta Jet 200. Don't think it's a DOD but price isn't out of line. I think maybe a little high for legshield damage and missing turn signals, but that's what negotiating is all about. I have one that was repainted to look like an Li, nice job, but original is original. The motor is an SX with a few changes and they are a ton of fun to ride!

Serveta Lambrettas have been getting more respect lately, maybe because Italian prices are high.

Nice SXs have been going for over $10K recently

I really liked this one....but it's already gone. Would have kept it just the way it was. I should have pursued it more aggressively, but the owner really wanted that $600 for it I think and a five hour drive. I just couldn't, sight unseen, not running, without title (though the title is easy to get.)

anybody?
Back to cheap beaters, this forkless AllState might be worth the $100 asked to the right enthusiast. Claims surface rust only and comes w/ most of the frozen up original piston ported motor.

Bah, two dead scooters w/ one fork & one dead motor between them? Stubborn emoticon
Fine if no bad cancer and you collect old frames.

Spend big and get just one scooter with a "good motor", includes a new electronic ignition thrown in. Might be for you if the motor really is nice.
