I dunno, I first came across that Proxibid site here on MV - there was a Serveta Jet 200 up in Vermont that was listed and ended up selling for just $1600. But that one was more restrictive on shipping IIRC.

Not a Vespa but thoughts on buying this???

Was the P125X imported in silver? Otherwise, I can't tell from the pictures whether or not it's a 200 or 125. Might be good to ask the seller if it says on the title or if he could check the frame number.

Why does the speedometer look to small for the hole? Looks like a gap around top.

Now at $850, still sweet deal if it has a 200 motor but I didn't see "P200E / P125X" in the listing, what am I missing?

And what's going on here? I've seen newer tanks w/ a gas gauge sender, but only behind the gas filler cap.

Zoom in on the selector box area Terry. The selector cables are routed around the outside of the exhaust down tube, so that would make it a 125 or 150. As to that fuel tank, it looks like it has been replaced at some point with a LML tank.

Less than $1k, can deal with a 125cc and a 6 hour drive. Guessing will go for $1600. In that case, no dice.

The Deal o the day Rally from a couple of weeks ago. Definitely a deal!
There's 99% of a Rally in there somewhere.

The motor looks good! Built by Hot Rod Al in 1991, and never taken out of the crate.

I guess it's a Pinasco aluminum barrel, and a Ducati flywheel that has been lightened, but on a Femsa case.

The carb is the Del'Orto 24/24, but modified at the intake.

Also had a Simonini pipe, never used.

Geeklion took the engine. I got the body parts.

It's amazing that person had the engine built 30 years ago and never used.

There were new tires with a 1991 manufacture date in there.

CraZytown.

I may have to put the white P200 up on one of those auction sites for laughs. "Odometer shows actual miles" (I'll leave out the fact it was a different motor that clocked those miles.) Good lord.

This was a great deal o the day. Big thanks to SDJohn for posting up the lead, and HUGE thanks to SoCalGuy for facilitating the deal & storage until we could pickup. Couldn't have done it without you. Thanks to the MV community. You guys every come up to PNW, coffee and scenic rides are in store.

HJO got a great start with Rally project as well. Now you can have 2 Rally's - really excited to see what you do here!!

Based on what I know this engine was built sometime in the early 2000's, not 1991.( Those tires are for sure old tho!) iAl is a friend, so I ran it buy him to confirm. ts an HotRodScooters built Rally 200 with a Pinasco 225 kit, modified head, Vortex Carb, Lightened Ducati flywheel; not sure about the rest of the internals. 20 years sitting in a crate, never ran. Gonna be fun - I got plans

That makes sense. There was also a license plate with a 2005 tag in there. I hope that's old enough to be out of the system!

well done all the way around.

on the note of projects, if anybody needs a way station for a bike or a motor or to sock some parts away till they can come and scoop them I'm more than happy to facilitate.

This is not vintage! (though 2007 is starting to be vintage too!)

But $1200 for a nice looking modern vespa.

I've never ridden one of these. Do they have anything like the feel of the two stroke ones?

Nothing compares to the two stroke ones. It's a modern automatic scooter. I had an ET4 years back. They're great around town and on small trips. Totally civilized and quiet. That 150 Leader engine is bulletproof with proper maintenance…

What I love about vespas is the shifting, and the noise they make. That's mix of whistling fan and deep exhaust. And even the smell of the two stroke engine.

And of course the look of the vintage ones. They're so simple and beautiful.

None of that on the new ones. But they do seem well designed.

With cars, too, I always get ones with manual transmission, but not many of those left. Thankfully VW still makes a manual GTI.

meh on that. RH mirror is probably broken off in the master cylinder (MC mounts to bars and has a provision for the mirror) so you're 50/50 on getting out the broke off piece or a new MC. 2yrs, if it's tagged up whatever otherwise you're looking at $$ in back reg.

general fluff and fold- carb clean, drain the tank, some hoses, a new battery. 10K you're on a big service so there's some dough. it probably needs tires and front brakes, possibly a rotor. and it's kinda thumped.

if you did all your own work and didn't care about the condition of the body, and the tags were current, I'd say 800~1000 otherwise you're dropping 1K plus into that thing.

I remember years back finding out there was a Vespa dealership close to me in Vermont. I hadn't given Vespa scooters a thought in decades. I quickly found their website and for some reason expected to see photos of rows of p series bikes. What a let down. I'm sure they are nice bikes but I just have no interest in them. I still drive standard for my daily driver. Ironically, my 73 VW bus is an automatic, but it almost doesn't count. It would be like driving an automatic Allstate.

$1000 p200 in Santa Cruz.

This one is tempting. Needs a little love.

But I have two of these to finish.

that's the same guy that had the red one from a few weeks back...

but "just needs" a flywheel and head sounds suspect. nothing insurmountable but expect to get basically cases and a roller.

but 1K if the paper it's fucked out ain't bad.

Is this the red one?

This is also probably salvageable, but looks like it has an inch of bondo to make it look vintage.

But a complete engine for $1000 might be ok.

The asymmetrical mounted taillight is so strange!
