Speedo on that P makes me think it's a 125. If that paint is og it's a good deal!
Smallie Is a good deal too..if you're close.

The '69 small frame appears to be a 130 on a 90. I am tempted by that one and it's not far away.

both aren't bad. I think the P is little over, but that's a haggle down a few hundy. like birbs said, it'f that's OG paint then the rest is probably not too much of a mess. to me it looks like a respray. not that there's anything wrong with that.
that's about rate on the smallie. 12~15 seems to be right in the wheelhouse for something that's got good bones and just needs some massaging. |

That'll buff right out.
This was the kind of project I imagined doing years ago...maybe something more rusty than bent. There is no point though. The cost of an much better example is much much less than the time and money that would be needed to bring that back to life. If it was the last one on earth or the first one ever made it might be worth it. |

In my eyes, it is totally fixable and I'd go for it if I didn't have to pay to ship it across the country. No rust !!! It will be interesting to see what it goes for. Ends at 5:18 ET.

I believe a 177 kit can be as powerful as a Pinasco 225 but at what cost? I know a few on here that have a well built and extensively modified 177 that could keep up and pass my 225 bolted on kit. I have yet to do any modifications to my 225 case.

But pour his heart and soul into restoring it? My viewpoint is he just butchered a great original machine to make it....original..... There are not many original condition machines left, and he took a great original machine and made it a restoration. It makes me sad. At least he finished the project and didn't leave it in a box, so there's that I guess. But for me, leave it the f@$k alone and just get it machanically sound so it can roll. Too late for that though. So I say it's a beautiful machine... And like everything, my opinion is just that, an opinion, neither right nor wrong. I'm glad we all have differing opinions or life would be pretty boring.. Ok, getting off the soapbox and putting down the microphone... ![]()

It's a preference thing really. I like a good restoration, but would only buy or sell one with photos documenting the quality of the restoration. Otherwise, I would never trust shiny paint nor would I expect a potential buyer to do the same. I used to hate patina, but I have really changed my view on that depending on how a vehicle is preserved.

As a general rule, I think that most of us are looking for two categories of scooters:
1) Ones that have never been restored, but are good candidates, like that red one before he restored it. 2) Ones that either have been repainted; or are too beat up to save the original paint; or need other destructive work, i.e. welding, and thus would need fresh paint anyway. There are others (as Orwell just showed) who are looking for previously restored bikes, but I think most of us are on the hunt for project, not post-project, bikes. |

This one is in a little nicer shape than my '64 when I bought mine last year. I paid $1650. FM's friend just paid $2K for a '62 Allstate runner. IDK maybe $1850?

deal of the day is subjective. it's more about the thought or the idea of what would constitute a deal if I had that dinero available in my scooter slush fund. such as what I would think constitutes a good deal if I was looking for that particular item or if I was passing along a bike to somebody looking.
like the other day there was a serveta on scoot that I thought was a very fair price. was it a smoking deal? nah, but very reasonable. there was also those cases and crank for $600 which I thought was a deal. somebody else could look at either of those and damn near swallow their tongue at the prices. blondes or brunettes, remember there's an ass for every seat and a pocket book that'll accommodate wildly inappropriate and totally unadvised spending. |
