On that Allstate.. I meant "could be in the territory" with some haggling and if you actually had two OG hubcaps. Keeping in mind those hubcaps could easily be worth a couple hundred ducats.

one of those is a stella motor.
but 5ish for a complete P2 lump is market. figure a carb, carb box, a flywheel, and cases would get you most of the way there. all the rest is gravy. |

^^ Agreed, that Stella is more like it. I did not want to knock anyone down with my last post, but some of these prices ae getting a little crazy. But anything will sell at the right price, the rest will just sit for months on end.

One advantage I have on this front is that while my wife is basically supportive in principle of my having a hobby that doesn't involve disappearing all day to drink with friends like golf, she doesn't like the reality of it. She avoids coming out to my workshop most of the time, regardless of its level of mess. Like "texts me when she's sitting on the porch fifty feet away" avoids.
For example, when I showed her the orange paint on the VBB over the weekend, she said, "Where's the blue scooter?" despite my having told her and showed her the progress multiple times up to this point. And I'm not above using that to my advantage from time to time...

In the past, if I picked up an extra scoot, I would wedge it in the corner some where and if she asked, I would reply "it's just parts". After awhile, she would remark, "you probably have enough parts here to build 2 or 3 more", and I would say, "wow honey , you know you are probably right".

Technically, they're *all* "Just parts." Now we're discussing how fully-assembled they are.

In jurisdictions that also care about engine #'s, it'd be the combination of Frame+Motor, and in places like the UK, Germany, and that hard-to-spell upside-down place with all the cute-but-poisonous animals, it seems to be basically the entire parts manifest.

while not a screaming deal, I think at 3 this would be quite decent. you get a lo miles clean bike with a sensible upgrade. granted you *could* buy a clapped out 125/150 or a Stella for like half that and then dump a smooth G into it but getting there would be fun, if you're into that sort of thing. but 3 for something that's tagged, titled and ready to go. get on and ride and clean as shit. sign me up. |
