There's also some "go-fast" parts for the older wide body motors. Check with Gickpeed, he'd know if you could get that motor street worthy.

So, the thing with fitting a largeframe engine into a widebody scooter is this - 99% of the time the body has to be cut-hacked-hammered out for it to fit. The large frame engine and the original widebody engine are just so different in terms of size and placement. Its not a one size fits all, and it's really not a quick swap at all. It can be done, but not without great effort, skills, time, and money; and only by making permananent changes to the frame and parts.
These handlebar Allstate's are getting harder to find in any condition... I bet Gick has an spare engine on the shelf for this. There are many options to make the OG motor plenty fast for modern roads |

woof. pass.
even at 450 that's hammered. AND you gotta find a motor. then cable it and wire it. nah. ever cabled and wired a handlebar? fuck. and that. unless you have and dabble in handlebars? no no and no. and this even assumes that all the controls work properly and aren't fucked out or locked up. then, motor. which... Ffffff... |

From what I understand, a 200 engine CAN be fitted without slicing and dicing the frame, but it involves using an aftermarket intake manifold and carb...along with whatever else it takes that I don't know about. I'm having to hack the heck out of my Wideframe to get the 200 engine to fit. That being said, a 150 engine block would fit MUCH easier than a 200. It will still require modifications. Voodoo has successfully swapped a 150 into a Wideframe. |

That's not a bad price, but you gotta love the way he uses a concourse GS' price to imply his pile o' VBB's potential restored price.

Not really deals, but there are two bikes locally that are long-time scooter people who are giving them up bc they're getting too old to ride them.

I sent a message to the person with the Rally, suggesting he sell it on consignment.
I've seen that bike on rides in SF. And he posted about it here. It's kind of sad. He had it all restored, but didn't seem to ride it. Just put into storage. https://modernvespa.com/forum/post1232995#1232995

It's a beautiful bike. I'm not sure where the upper end for Rally 200's is at the moment. Would I think he could fetch $7k? yeah. 8 or 9k? don't know. 10k? I doubt it.

I'd want to see more pics of the frame - it all looks like surface rust to me (but some is deeper pitting on the butt). The cowl has rot through, though, so they may be hiding similar on the underside or other side of the frame

Bello Moto has one they're selling for $10k. But they price their bikes so high that they stay for sale for years. ![]() Why do people black out plates when selling vehicles? That suggests they're stolen, or there is something shady there.

You could try!
T5s are rare here, bc they were never imported. Bello Moto ships bikes over from Italian resto shops, that are decent quality. It's interesting how people are shipping bikes back to Europe from here, and there are shops here shipping from Europe, as European spec bikes. Bello Moto doesn't really seem to sell many bikes. They have a TON of them, and all the collectible models, but they price them for super rich collectors, and I don't know that there are many of those. They really seem to be hoping that a VS4 GS is eventually like a 1950s Ferrari, and fetching a million dollars. |

That place is like that.
They have so many bikes! And they're all whatever models are considered the most collectible. They are asking concours restoration prices, but the restorations are so/so. They're like correct paint codes and overall look, but then not super high quality. Cheap aftermarket parts, etc. It's this weird hoarding den. It looks like what they're doing is waiting for these bikes to appreciate. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Now close to 20K. Multiply that times 100 scoots. Raise the prices and keep em just above market, then keep whatever you want to sell lower. NOw wait 20 years and retire to the Cayman islands in style. Step 3=Profit. Not my bag, but that's likely whats happening. |
