It's funny because I can remember not long ago I think people on here would say "bah, it's a P - good scoots but they're all over. $1500 tops in that condition". But all classic vespas seem pretty rare now and the price expectations are catching up with it

Of course on the flip side you've always had people crop up on clist trying to sell VBBs for 8 grand for no apparent reason

You are right. I think that's on the high end of my target price for one... But, in the last two years that's about the cheapest I've seen a p200. Especially in this area. So I'm being forced to reevaluate acceptable prices.

But I'm not in the market for one! And if you can get a p200 for a thousand less than what the average current selling price is, simply because it needs a case split and a five dollar part.. That meets deal of day targets in my book.

I figure that any used Vespa automatically needs a cruciform, a few transmission gears, new clutch plates, new crank bearings, stator rewired, and a seal kit...so I figure around $600 additional to the original purchase price.

Agreed. Every used Vespa purchase should automatically receive an engine rebuild.

Exactly my opinion... I've yet to see a "mint" scooter come to me that didn't need work.

Agreed. Even if they don't need bearings, the cruciform, seals, and some of the wiring always seems to have issues.

Yes, this for sure. Given that most of these scoots are 40+ years old, even the garage finds with 5,000 miles need a fair amount of work.

whenever buying a used car my dad always used to say: brakes, tires and a battery in the first year.

if it's not exactly that, it'll be the same monetary value.

Panel beater and frame straightener. Looks like it's twisted in that rear view picture. Other than that, it looks a lot better than mine when it started out.

Fair amount bigger job if you don't have a frame jig. I went looking for the twist because I figured whatever hits smashed up the legshield probably bent it or twisted the frame, too.

Any idea where that license plate is from?

The spare tire on this doesn't match the bike!

Hard to tell if the frame is bent. Looks like it might be the seat and angle. The damage on the front looks like maybe from transporting it.

That GL has some original parts but no way at $1700 ... it's covered in bondo. See all that splintering and cracking on the legshield. Badge is pop riveted on, wrong horn, 47,000km ??? ... my guess old resto from India or Pakistan maybe?

India/Pakistan makes sense. Surprised it doesn't have a sidesaddle foot rest.

I can't believe I missed the pop rivets on the legshield badge, plus the mudguard trim is funky and the horn is some sort of re-pop, too.

What is a Vespa GT? I've seen them before but nothing on them on Scooterlounge.

Anyway, here's a kinda rusty looking widebody Allstate frame without an engine. It would take considerable $$$ to get this anywhere but it's only $350 so might be worth it to someone.

that threesome looks nice, but a little over priced. depending on mechanical condition and overall (OG, repainted, "restored") I could see the GTR and super rolling something in the 4~5 range as a pair. maybe a bit more.

the ET is kind of cool in that it's grey market euro and a piece of the past, but it's not really worth much and even more so because you can't reg it up.

that early Allstate is 350 worth of parts, especially if that's your wheelhouse. if you don't play in that sandbox, cut a wide berth around that money pit.

my bigger question is: where be the side hack?

also, some of that furniture looks pretty decent if it's real deal!
