eek! that floor! if the top of the tunnel looks like that, how's the soft white underbelly fairing ya think?
but still... I've got a soft spot for beater 125's and that's a buy at 500 to me. (and i would feel zero-point-zero guilt over fabbing a ghetto ass patch job up on there) |

Looking at Greasy's next project (and, yeah, that thing is probably more rust than steel at this point--it's in Charleston, SC, right by the ocean. That's where my mom is from and it gets HOT AND HUMID there like few other places.
And then this $700 P125 from Florida shows up in the links under the listing, so I check it out and it's a mess. Sketchy respray. Lots of rust. Seized motor. Rust through the frame. Partially stripped for parts. Did I mention the rust? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/679618233892221 And a screenshot from MV explaining why the motor has a weird model # stamped on it.

Both a parts bikes, although the one in N. Charleston seems to be a much better deal than the FL scoot. Just not enough good parts there to justify $700.

Here's a 3 speed 90 smallframe. Not the fastest, but seems pretty reasonably priced.

if that rust is just surface, 1K would be rate IMO
but that's some dildo work there with the: I'll start getting it going and it's gonna cost more. super cheese dick move. either do the work and list it or sell it as is. doing a compression check, a spark check and rebuilding a carb real quick to run it off an aux tank would go miles toward selling something for what you're asking and should be considered as necessary in that it would eliminate so much back and forth bullshit.

In these parts, a potential buyer would laugh and walk away from someone who deals like that. Is that some kind of shitty millennial-type selling strategy? I've never heard of or read an ad like that before?

3rd that, he sounds like an a- hole. Of course, he could slap a shitty, shiny paint job on it and say it "needs a tune up" and get bites for double that price.

I think I'd drop my offer from a grand down to 800 after he touches it, just knowing there's going to be stuff I'd now have to un-fuck.

$500 extra to empty half a can of starter fluid down the carb throat to get it running and sucking air.

Agree with all here: walk away from such stupidity. We all have bought projects. There is always a certain amount of work that needs to be done to get them up and rolling, much more to get them good looking again. The best ones seem to be when someone just quits riding the scoot but you can tell they loved their machine. Then maybe the garage finds because gramps died a few years ago and the grandson doesn't want to put in the time. After that, it all goes down hill with non-running SEA bodges at the bottom.

It's been up for sale at least 6 months. I betcha the owner did not pay all that much for it, yet still wants the it's perfect and in great running condition money for it.

And I actually contacted the person a few months ago, but they wanted a firm commitment - all the cash on the barrel head - upon arrival. I was willing to talk price and deal if the number dropped to $2000 or so. They quit talking to me after that.

yeah I remember seeing that and thinking that it wasn't bad, just well overpriced for what it was.
if that was running and riding with a soft parts rebuild and fresh tires and reg? that all day and twice on sunday. |
