It's a clean ride, no doubt, but if the owner was willing to talk, I would have looked at it. $2500 would have been my limit with money coming off that if it was not running. Plus it sounds like the the title may be open? Or screwed up.

Lots of sellers hate haggling over prices when you aren't physically there. I always avoid talking prices with them before going to see the bike, but try my best to ask very specific questions so that they know I know what it is and I'm not just showing up clueless. Its 50/50 once you get there with cash in hand whether they will cave to your haggling when you are so willing to just walk away.

There's always the sellers that will never budge.

Well, I just recall making contact, talking over a few details and mentioning that while it looked superb, all the rubber bits would need replacing to make it a reliable ride - a soft rebuild if you will. I then asked if I could look at it and if they were open to an offer - did not mention a number. He declined and said he had no time for anything but a full price. So I thanked him for his time and mentioned if he changed his mind, give me a holler. Worked out fine - way too pretty a scoot for someone like me.

but I've got plenty of time to sit on it and see zero dollars and then go through the trouble of listing it and taking all the phone calls and inquiries again, in the dead of winter when prices are absolutely bottoming out.

I'd party down with that sprint. it's gonna need some work but it looks like a legit piece and that's not a risky gamble at that price

100% I always (mostly!) swap the early trans for the EFL. Worth it for a solid bottom end

On the 55, someone that knows these older ones will grab it, I'm sure. The other 2 above - the Rally 180 and the SS - are going to be demanding big bucks, much more than mortals like me could afford.

It could be an money pit with endless bottom. But for the right person, a good project or at least a decent parts scoot

that's no joke. if you want to get into wide body/handle bar stuff you need to know somebody that is juiced in *AND* be a glutton for punishment.

if you DO pick one up, make damn sure it has every.single.little.thing ALL the thing-a-ma-bobs, whatzits and doohickeys. seriously.

Can't seem to post a link for some reaseon, but there is a pretty straight 1962 Allstate on Facebook Market Place and/or Vintage Scooter Community Classifieds.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/VintageScooterCommunityClassifieds

https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10226484523212784&set=g.305872879514516

$600.00
Looks like there is some cancer below the fuel tap and maybe on the floor boards. But a decent deal if you have welding skills. (Probably not good for a newbie.)
