Yes but…
🙂

I can't tell what bike(s) that started as.

One thing that did catch my eye - been on the look out for a repop front mudguard like this.

Pic below has original from late 1940s.
Second pic is zoom in on this bodgery.

Anyone ever seen a supplier of that front mud guard type?

Asking for a friend.

VNA headlight and rim are the same size.

I may have an actual faro basso NOS headlight rim kicking around. Had a bunch of them at one point.

Thanks gents.

What's caught my eye of the mud guard is the side skirt - more than the light placement.

The skirt is authentic to very early vespas (late 40's) that were some of the most decked out.
Suspect they axed for cost savings as they entered mass production/ increases.

I think it's got a bad ass aesthetic - and also allows deep coverage of wheel while making it serviceable.

I've hunted for a repro but none seem to exist. Assume what y'all have are the lights & accompanying mudguard - rather than the side skirted guards?

With no repro's out there - they must be unobtanium unless home fabbed…

Kinda bad ass no?

originals were likely aluminum formed by hand, so it's not like you can really go that far wrong doing the same.

If you make one you know it's easier to make three in case you mess one up. Then you can sell me the second one. I like the headlight on fender.

I'm not going to judge any flippers, but man, that just ain't my style. I'm more of a "i bought it at a great deal, spent way too much money making it something cool, then sell it for a small loss" type of guy.

Without a doubt i would have turned that scooter into a Six Days replica.

I see what you see. Very nice. And probably like you, I can't unsee the fender light that screams bodge. I used to like two tone and a little chrome tat, but just can't anymore.

You must have an English wheel somewhere in that mess…

Yeah how good of a deal depends on the completeness and newness of the parts pile. Could range from nice deal! to just fair. Probably you need to splash some cash to get the engine beyond 100cc anemic but if I wanted a smallie right now I'd be talking to that dude.

yeah, painted and tagged and titled? there's half the battle. and mike notes the bat-tree door, there's a plus.

to john's note, there's probably another 1~1.5K in getting it set and on the road. but if you had a cache of bits rolling around the garage this is pretty easy lifting, even more so if you limited yourself to being satisfied with "that's good enough" in the "restoration" and "speed" aspects.

but better 2~2.5 into a bike that you know than that 2~2.5 on a blind buy and then having to dump in another 500 and change!

if it was slightly closer and I wasn't buried in work I'd probably go scoop it up

Could you buy it for parts? A whole scooter is completely different from a spare engine, a set of forks and parts of (or whole) frame that may or may not be used as repair panels.

Yeah that's it, chandlerman. This is so you don't have to paint the Allstate. You bought a prepainted frame with some spares….

100%. On a spend like this you obviously need to take a close look and make sure everything's straight and "all parts" really are there. But if it's what the seller says it is, 100 Sports are cool little scoots - basically 3-speed Primaveras with electronic ignition and 12v lighting. Highly modifiable. Perfect for someone like Chandler who already has a monster engine (battery compartment would have to come out, but no biggie).

There have to be limits even to my personal levels of stupidity, and sadly, this may be one of them.

I need to get the Smallstate back in fighting shape once the motor arrives (should be tomorrow), plus get the White Stella sold, and then I'm going to restore the Green Stella and sell it on. Only then can I entertain adding something new to the herd, though it very well might be another smallie.

Yup. And there are limits to what I can sneak in unnoticed. A super-shiny, bright green scooter would probably be beyond that limit.

Next project will probably involve a sidecar. Maybe I'll build the second leaner sidecar so I can give the dogs scooter rides.

This may or may not be how I ended up with a storage space. *ahem*

Also known as the "side hustle."

It is shiny, but none more for me until some stuff gets fixed and ridden or gone.

see, technically if it's in boxes, you bought boxes of parts, not "another" scooter.

I mean, at least that's how I explained it to the war department.

That has only worked for me a couple of times, then she caught on. No fooling that woman. The other thing that use to happen in the past when I rolled in a new-to- me scoot in. She would ask - "Does it run"? I would reply - "You're kidding, right -why would I bother to buy something that runs"? Now, she doesn't ask anymore. Sometimes, she's no fun at all.

I for one, fully support a leaner sidecar. Mainly because I want one.
