What a great find, somebody jump on this ASAP! Seller^^^ doesn't seem to know that it's a GL, not bad for $2400 if that floor rust is essentially just surface. Looks pretty straight to me and that paint will come back to life real nice... I'd be on it close by.

Believe or not I thought about it. I know a local guy who is from Germany. When he lived over there at one point he was up to 19 Vespas. When he moved to USA he picked one to bring along and sold the rest. Yep, you guessed it - it's a GL. The only one I ever laid eyes on. Beautiful machine. I hope this one goes to someone that has the time, money and health to refresh it.

Sweet GL. Don't see many in that original condition … grips, trim, lights, switch, badges, levers all there.

Talking to guy now. He is willing to do $2k. But I asked for some underside pics before I travel 100+ miles. Right side tunnel may have some holes, can't really tell from the pics.

I am passing on this scoot as I am really not in a good position to take on a project now or in the near future. Here is a few pics of the underside and floor area that were I requested. This is 100 miles from me, but if someone on here is really interested, I'll do what I can.

I wouldn't mess with the GL original paint. Especially if voodoo means what he says! Hard to really tell from the pics whether the floor rust is limited to the surface tho. Some areas look potentially bad where topside floor meets the tunnel and also under some floor rails, but would need to examine in person.

What's the hardware on the front hub?

Does the GL have special GL engine parts, or is it mechanically identical to the regular 150? I think they're about the best looking models.

Slight higher compression ratio, maybe the gearing is a wee bit different, but pretty much the same as a VBB of the same year. IMO, nothing beats the look of the GS models. The GL is a sportier looking version, but the curves on the GS is, to me, the height of the Vespa stye.

Tierney, if you can provide a short term (maybe 4 months) storage spot I can send paypal 2K to you. Id keep it nice patina.

It reminds me a lot of this ugly duckling that I found when I first fell for these little machines. But this GL is likely better, I had to do a lot of floor welding here.



Of course I was younger and more gullible back then...




Fortunately I didn't drop it and the new owner Nuttmeg44 knew how to clean it up properly.

I am out of town until Wednesday, maybe a bit longer. Up in the Blue Ridge Mountains camping. I'll be happy to help you out, but I will have to rent a trailer. Keeping it at the house is no problem, I can store it under cover.

I like the unique old pillion seat and rack , but why the P floor rails and center mat?

Probably Indonesian origins with that headset and the crazy 8" to 10" rims. And by the looks of it you also get a new Pinasco kit…

but p2 rails and center mat have me thinking it's a cut and paste job. add in those goofball 8=>10 conversion rims and that's just asking for a good time.

maybe at $500 because the new pinasco kit is like 1/2 that.

They might be stick-on whitewalls. the PO of my Sprint had put those on before I got it.

If it were nearer and I thought it all started life as the same bike, I might also be in the "I'd like to have it just to roll up on it and watch people cringe" camp.

If it has both of those original deluxe cowl embellishers AND with that classic Jaguar mudguard piece, I think if you found the right fool vintage aficionado, you could get maybe half of your money back. Now sell off the trap headset and the Pinasco kit, to get what's left for free... And I really do like that old 'mini' BBQ rack!
