it's vermont plated, so maybe that's enough for some folks to get a title and not pay the seller, especially if it changes states while changing hands. that's probably the seller's logic, but who knows?

yeah i was noting the fork components are all blue.... but still it's a good looking bike in the photos we have. at least they didn't do the whole bike or you'd see the brake pedal blue as well.

You ain't kidding. Saw a beat to hell VNB the other day priced $3500 *needs work*

Wasn't sure whether I was going to post this here or "Today I…" but I guess here works…

Stopped by a friend's storefront today on my Allstate. While there, a friend of hers showed me a picture of a P200 she "wanted to buy". It was apparently a runner, original paint, $1000.
I told her she needed to buy, like immediately. She said ok.
"No, I mean like… you need to stop whatever it is you're doing here, call the seller, and go buy that scooter RIGHT NOW!"

Apparently she hadn't moved on it BC the seller wouldn't meet her (& her husband) in a public place Facepalm emoticon

All the crazy shit I've done to procure scooters flashed in front of my eyes, and I calmly informed her of my doubt that she was in possession of the requisite fortitude for vintage scooter ownership.

So yeah, I guess there's still some deals out there…

I've had to gently steer many people towards a modern scooter because there is no way they'd be able to handle the vintage scene.

Yep. And the oh so ignorant "Maybe you could restore one for me! I've always wanted one." As they drive off with their brand new Toyota they bought because they must have total reliability.

It's like people look at what we do and think to themselves "If THEY can do it, it must not be that difficult"

What they don't really don't appreciate is the size of the gap between "to do" and "to do WELL."

Based on the pictures, how much more assembly would it need for the extra grand? Like...Will he overspray the horncast with more red rustoleum? Razz emoticon

Somewhere down the line before I got it was sprayed not well. I just left it alone and worked on the motor, brakes, and such. Paint is pealing off some places. When I got it they even sprayed the rubber which I replaced. It's not premium, it's also why I didn't price it premium…

The old: I have a spare horncast - so it makes sense for me to buy an entire scoot to complete it with, trick.

No, but somebody should, I will even donate a horncast! It is close enough that I do want to swing by and take a look at it so I can report back w/ more details. And title is available, I got this back from seller:
Quote:
Yes it's a Washington title and what we need to do is get a hold of the guy he got it from and have him do an affidavit of lost title or find the title. He was moving and wanted to sell it instead of move it but had the title packed up somewhere. We don't expect anyone to buy it without being able to put it in their name fully titled.
update: Going to see it at 5:30, but I sure do not NEED it , although it seems like could be a great deal these days. Please put out the word to anybody close enough who may be interested, and I could help facilitate if it checks out OK.

Hey Voodoo, if it helps any at all for a reason to NOT buy it, and engine on average will cost more that $600 if if turns out you need to replace a few loose transmission gears and possibly a worn out clutch bell...along with the obligatory cruciform.

Hey John, thanks for the discouragement, every little bit helps with a few troublemakers here trying to egg me on! Livid emoticon
Best reason not to buy it, but step aside for somebody else looking in this current tight market: I just don't need this myself w/ that Indo Super coming up, and I know I already got a few too many as it is ! Goofy emoticon

Seller is more into motorcycles and this just fell on him. He says the odometer reads 5000 miles, but seems unlikely that's correct. I do have decent clutches and used gears, etc. and even a brand new cruciform - IF I got involved w/ a local buyer, I'm sure most parts could be covered most economically... And I will offer my contact info for another buyer if nobody here wants it thru me. I'll have a much better idea of condition after I lay eyes on it & fire it up. Stay tuned...

Well it's a solid bike, but somewhat battered - it would take a fair lot of work to make this one a real beauty. There is no rust rot and it's all there, even a horncast and a set of new floor runners in a box of parts.

I got the motor started on gas down the venturi and it sounded healthy but wouldn't take gas from the carb so that's likely gummed up. The guy who has it also has motorcycles an a nice Lammy TV175, but said that if we could get it running well that he may just want to keep it... we'll see.

I brought the carb home to clean and we'll find out how it runs then. If anybody is seriously interested, you'd best speak up now while he's still on the fence.
Floor is solid, there's even a Sito Plus included in this deal

Love this. Terry goes to look at a non-running scoot that's for sale, and ends up taking the carb home to get it running for the seller.

Yeah... Well I made a cool new friend w/ a lot more in common than we could ever have imagined, I'm helping a VESPA and I know you'd prob do the SAME!

So moderators, what is the most popular thread on all of MV?
On the main channel we have 'What's cheering you up?" w/near a quarter million views, then "What's pissing you off?" w/ about half of that but "The weird shit I saw today" had 154K. I don't think there's another thread over there w/ more.

But our "today i ..... bollox 2.1" has 239K+ and this here thread is close to a MILLION Wha? emoticon , so I think it's likely the champ! Who doesn't like either scoring a killer deal on here OR finding hidden treasure to tempt ensnare share w/ friends?

Keep the good deals coming ppl, I KNOW they are getting harder to find but they ARE out there and the fans are counting on you!

Voodoo you're already working on it?
This is the unintentional but coincidentally perfect rebuttal to my previous post…

On the one hand you have someone unwilling to be bothered with meeting the seller of a bike they're constitutionally unsuited to the ownership of, on the other you have my boy Voodoo stepping onto the seller's turf, striking a rapport, and immediately going to work on their bike.

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about!!

Don't ever change, man.

I met one of my best pals that way. He had a Craigslist ad for a p200 which I didn't need but I responded to his ad saying nice scooter I don't want to buy it but if you are into scooters we should hang. And we did and still do!
