Didn't you upgrade the front fork to VBB/Euro spec?
Thanks man! Yeah, it was sketchy going 45 mph with that front spring. Chris has a 64 and it's four speed. Mine is a three speed.

And I'm digging the inspiration - that would be a badass looking machine, especially if it's got a hinged sidecar ... steam punk - rat rod old school look. That'd be awesome.

I was tempted myself on this one. Glad you snagged it, cm2, I can enjoy vicariously

For me with the widebodies it's all about the handlebars. The chrome actually does get you home.

I have been known to supply questionable information.
🙂

Pretty sure whodat has a '58 with headset rather than handlebars?
I'm aware of one for sale right now as well - and it's purportedly "58 and has headset.
Think '58 was a cross over year.

I've recently been watching some old film westerns on prime time TV (i don't have cable), and Sophia has been in multiple ones. She was a stunner for sure!

But back to more important material things...
Yes, my rusty vespa is a 1958. Piaggio manufactured the widebody VB1 for two years, 1957 and 1958. I have mine registered as a 1958. The VB1 indeed has the headset. My blue Allstate 208 project is a VNA wideframe. I have it titled as a 1961, but it's really a 1958 or 1959 model. If i ever come across a few more used oregon 1958 or 59 license plates for sale, i might buy them and get DMV to change the year on my scooter, but it isn't really a priority for me. The current 1961 plate that i have is in excellent shape (and i like the colorway of the 61 moto plates.

FYI, way, way, way back, each year the license plates would be a different color. So it's fun to have a bunch of scooters that have different build dates, since all the license plates will be different colors.

That's a good looking project. (I'd check the floor boards with a harry eye.) But, man that could be a great deal! Love the dealer sticker.

I like this, but I am not sure about DOD or not. I'm not claiming it!

I suppose this must be Rally 180 based on the year?

that's our very own bernietime

saw that rally when it was a electric conversion, it looked solid and it'd be a great start for a full resto or if you had a pile of parts you could snap something really decent together and roll it around and not be embarrassed.

Someone clearing out or thinning out their collection??? I told my wife if I pop off to consult with Poi Dog or representatives from Kajjit to ensure you vultures don't come picking at my bones. Maybe this guy is just getting out ahead of it. Hope it's not an estate sale situation.

Bajaj is a 4T

I'd roll there with cash. the GTV is worth that in parts all day everyday and twice on sunday.

either make the Bajaj a runner and sell it cheap (and promptly tell the person to lose your number and oh, good luck ever finding parts for this god forsaken thing!) or break it and keep the fork and glovebox, adios the rest for some coin.

if the GTV isn't that bad, maybe cruise it or throw down some quick and dirty body work and flip it too.

if you're not super greedy on profit you could move both fairly easy and come up on the good side of monies.

breaking either one is labor and the hustle but the coin is there for sure. if I was local I'd be headed over there right meow with the taco and tiedowns.
