Seems a bit suspect…

Paint chip next to the Speedo, speedo being so white and paint wear around the body doesn't make sense.

Rusty exhaust but no rust on rims…… hmmmm

Looks very legit to me - right down to the side reflectors on the tractor tail light. The bend in the floor is unfortunate, but stuff happens even in storage.

smallframe floors are made of cheese, just the way it is.

Someone probably had a heavy thought about that smallie, and that would have been enough to bend the floorboard.

I'm not even talking swiss cheese, that's too much structure. I'm talking about brie.

The design called for Époisses but they switched to brie to save costs.

Tractor light and reflectors on the mudguard are definitely signs it's a US bike and most likely original…

But suspecting the 3 genuine miles and being stored and not ridden.

But a quick engine check would shine a light on that. Looks to be in great shape none the less.

I had one, same year & color. The original 50cc seemed so anemic made worse by the fact that it's a THREE speed. Maybe that's why it never was sold.



Sure it is pretty, but for what he's expecting to get it's for collectors who will drool at the low miles, not riders who would soon wreck this 'feature'. I'd give more for a well kept Primavera that's seen a few miles than I'd give for this.

three speed?

The two I've had were 4 speed, that was the one bright spot of them. A 75 or 102 kit is easy enough but you have to replace the primary drive to do anything with it and that requires splitting the cases. By the time you get there may as well do the crank and go to a 133.

Still anemic, I had to bump start it one time and kept running and pushing because I didn't realize it had started.

The 50 Special was a right of passage for many 16 year old scooter lovers in the UK during the early '80s. Painfully slow compared to the FS1E and AP50 that non-scooter lovers were riding. They were all 4 speed IIRC and so much fun. The holy grail was 36 mph, which in reality was never achieved due to speedo inaccuracy. We didn't have kits in those days, as least not that we could afford, and at 16, nor did we have the know how. A loud exhaust was the only 'tuning' option we had

Alas it was replaced by the [even slower] PK50.

I think the speedo *may* have been swapped out at some point, it's just too, too white. but then again if it was stored inside, it's unlikely to have yellowed.

the "shelf wear" seems consistent with something that was stored with boxes on it. like the seat shows a sag, but the cover is mint. those exhausts rust if you look at them funny, and if it were run for any time at all it would've burnt any of the protective coating off of it.

I think it's a cool find, but I wouldn't pay a mint for it.

This was mine, a 1980 USA 50 special like in the ad. Notice that the original speedo only goes up to 40mph so it was fun to peg it after I swapped in a 125cc 4 speed.



It even had a neutral indicator

If the frame is sound what should a person pay for this?

I'm thinking of building a 200 motor and put in my 125 but this might be fun going with 125 build again.
Or am I just being an idiot again because my scooter is running fine and I'm bored?

the no title makes that a parts bike to me. but if you're willing to jump thru the hoops to get it legal that'd be low stakes fun.

there's certainly $500 worth of parts there. if it were closer I'd probably gamble on it.

Well I try, I crash, I order and I rebuild . But nobody else I've met is into the rebuild and staying pretty much sucky at the 3D flying
like myself.

I tried buying the Vestronic from the dude selling this 125x, he originally had two scooters for sale but sold one off .

He was Uber annoying trying to buy it and quit communicating all together. I wanted to ask him, is this behavior a twink thing or what.

I think I will hold off and try to get my hands on a 200 motor at a great price to build, especially since I can't register that chassis

I once mocked up a Cosa w/ tipped up in the rear P cowls and 6" cut off the frame bottom in back, and it looked pretty good but I never thought of trying this trick.

Cosa riders only want one thing, and it's *disgusting*!
