Restored Vespa Special 1975?
http://santabarbara.craigslist.org/mcy/2075459511.html
Quote:
Completely restored 1975 Vespa 50 Special upgraded with a 125cc Primavera motor for speed and reliability. This Vespa has 25 miles on it at most since the restoration. I am currently listing this 50 Special for a friend, so please be patient with any questions, as I will respond as quickly as possible. She has always ridden "twist and go's," ie; ET4 and now a GT 60. She decided to have a vintage Vespa restored but in the end she felt more comfortable on a newer scooter. Her loss, your gain. The price is set at a respectable amount as she is just trying to cover her costs. This Vespa is currently licensed and has current registration. Please feel to contact me with any questions you might have. 3900.00

Sorry, no super deals here, but I did find a great tool for finding the scoot of your dreams. Put in your zipcode & tell it how far away you want to look, and it will search both Craigs & eBay for you. Very nice...

http://www.searchtempest.com/

For example, here's all the current results for 'primavera' within 1000 miles of Seattle for Craigslist

http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/mcy/2076072767.html
Quote:
I've decided not to race next year and would like to offer my track machine up for sale:

- Cut-down 1975 Primavera frame (comes with a nice rear section if you want to do some fabrication and go full-frame).
- Front disc w/ upgraded 30mm caliper. Full hydraulic and braided steel line.
- Late 50 Special based engine with excellent 4sp gears and welded V90 primary.
- Modified Malossi 136 cylinder w/ GS piston (Still 1 rebore left)
- Hand-made custom reed intake with yz80 reed block and Mikuni TM28
- Modified 100 Sport 12V stator, electronic, HP4 flywheel.
- Bitubo shocks
- Stoffi VSP Road/3 pipe, modified for road clearance (exits to right, high and tight).
- Custom bars with aftermarket controls. All work really well.

The bike worked really well this last season for the few races I was able to make it out to. It's making power in the mid-20s and takes some concentration to keep the front wheel on the ground in 1st and 2nd. Brakes are very good and didn't fade at all on the track. I have the section of the frame with the VIN, title, etc so it could be road legal again if you were so inclined.

Disclaimer: This is a purpose built track bike that takes much more concentration to ride than a stock Vespa. It is not suited to street use in its current state of tune. Test rides will be allowed only to those individuals with a demonstrated ability to ride a machine like this. Sound silly because it's a just a Vespa? Think again! The bike is sold as-is with no warranty of any kind. I trust my life and safety to the work I put into making it safe and reliable, and I believe the engine to have a lot more life left in it before a rebuild will become necessary.

Come out and race! Events are located McMinnville, Canby, Seattle and Vancouver, BC.

Looking for challenge? Is finding Vespa and Lambretta parts too easy? Maybe you should buy this Iso in Mississippi! The current owners have no idea what they are trying to sell and have it listed as an Aprilia Lea.

I normally wouldn't post about ebay for a deal o' the day, but no one has bid, it is miscatagorized, and rare as hen's teeth.

Wow! That's an Iso F model. They only made them for a few years, early 60's.

Finding the rest of the parts might be a nightmare. But, certainly worth $500

Cheers

That's a real douglas Early 1951-55.

The 150 badge is funky though, never seen that before on a Rod/G model.

Should be interesting to see what it goes for.

Looks like the real deal. As long as you're going to eBay anyway, both of these are pretty low now...

For some reason, Im really interested in this one. About 650 to ship.
If it were around the corner, and no shipping, what would you experts price this one out for?

Thanks

Welcome, Here's a similar one closer to you and NO bidding involved, $800 and it's yours. You might even be able to dicker a bit, he's relisted it a couple times I think...

Looks like a smallframe?, maybe older primavera or 50S? Not sure... Experts?

You need to jump all over that for only $250.
Quickly now, before somebody sees this & beats you to it!

Maybe I'll just call ol' Dave & find out for ya, heh heh...

Kinda hard to tell for sure what it is from the one picture but it is for sure a Smallframe. Good chance of it being a early v90.

Looks like the 64 V90 i saw last year. He lives about an hour away, if it's still available after christmas i would be happy to check it out with you. Just so you know what you are getting into.

Great project for someone, at a good price (for a change)

Thanks everyone!
Not sure if I'm quite ready for a project like this, but I find myself searching CL regularly and this seemed like a really cheap price. It could be fun a way to pass the time during winter in Maine.

Jim, very nice offer; thanks! I'm in the Portland area, so Monmouth is probably a couple hours north.
We'll see how Christmas goes and if it's still around after...

I didn't see this posted before. Please forgive me if it has been posted already. This would be lovely...

Text from CL ad:

i belive this a 1960 sears scooter with a 125cc 3 speed motor. 60mph has 5000 plus miles on it. when i hit the kick starter, i heard compress so that's a good sign she'll start up. It's been sitting in a house dry dock when i received it and it's been in my shop for 5 years. needs to be painted. the brake light and odometer has a crack on it. there was some tools that were under the seat. a good restore project. no title comes with it. no scammers serious buyers only thanks for looking.

Sez - I just checked out your blog. I, too, lost my father at around the same age as you did and also really just know of him through a few pictures. Needless to say, your story really resonated with me (blog update Jan. 22 "A Long Time Coming!").

Great to hear your dad's Lammy is back in your hands. Sounds like Ed's daughter is a just a downright good person to make sure it got to you! How fortunate that she stumbled upon the post...

All the best and let us know how the restoration goes.

Hey, thanks for checking out my blog. I'm very lucky to have it back in my hands. Ed's daughter really came through. My cousin is helping me restore it but it's slow going. We've got most of the body work done. We're waiting for our tax returns to either find a motor or have the one we have rebuilt. The gas tank has been cleaned and coated. We had the speedo fixed. The carb has been rebuilt. We have all new cables and wiring. Really all that's left is the motor and a few minor things. I'm hoping to be able to ride it in late Spring or early summer. I'll post updates from time to time on it.
