Maybe DOTD. Maybe not, but I've finally gotten off my butt and listed my white Stella for sale.

I can vouch for its mechanical condition, having rebuilt the motor, and working electricals. My track record as a mechanic speaks for itself, for better or worse.

I think that is a great price for a scoot that clean with a rebuilt engine. Put it up on FB Marketplace too. It should move quick.

It's already sold. I could have sold four of them if I'd had them. I was not expecting such a strong response, even priced to move.

Then I had people asking if I'd sell other scoots that were in the background of one picture. There's a lot more demand out there for good looking vintage bikes than I'd expected.

Exactly: Good Looking Vintage. Pretty scoots always sell quick if running, and you rebuilt the engine as well! You did the buyer a solid when you sold. Maybe some of that good Karma will come back to you.

A chance to thin the herd and raise some coin if you want to.

I can imagine there's a decent market for anything well put together and original looking.

Anything too customised I think is difficult to sell.

I'm really pondering if I want to let go of the VBB, because I love it, but at the same time, never ride it. The guy who didn't get the Stella was really interested in it.

If I did that, I'd put the OG motor back in it, which was freshly rebuilt before it went on the shelf in 2020, I'd just raised the exhaust port too much, so I'd need to put a new top end on it, ideally a 2-port Pinasco 177. (Anyone holding?)

I think this is a '59 VBA w/ a 4 speed '74 Super motor in it. The VIN number is VBA1T*56574* and the engine serial number is VBC1M*233782* according to seller. It has Vermont title & reg, and looks like original paint. I keep trying to buy a scooter from Bello Moto but they categorically refuse to answer the phone or return voicemails/emails/contact form on their website.

A rally that isn't half-rusted, without having to spend six weeks doing nothing but looking at every individual craigslist city in the country.

Add FB marketplace to your search. And give it a few months. You'll find one.

Bello Moto is notorious for being a total ghost and (as mentioned) you can find much better deals with a bit of patience anyway.

Yup. First off, Craigslist seems to be pretty dead for vintage Vespas in general, other than the occasional bodge or rusted out parts pile. Maybe because they charge $5 for listings.

Facebook Marketplace is where the action is. You could also try posting a "looking to buy" at scootnet2.net or a couple of the larger Facebook groups and you might get some bites.

In general, if you're looking for a specific bike, as it seems you kind've are, you could be looking a really long time. The market seems to be pretty illiquid any more for project bikes and barn finds, unless they're pretty beat up, and when something does come up, it usually sells FAST if it's any kind of deal at all.

Half ass restos going for crazy money. I still remember the T5 they had a few months back. If I'm not mistaken they were asking for $10k...
Sprayed over bolts, frayed cables and other stuff that were visible in their photos. Imagine examining it from up close...

But i've found one at a price I'm willing to pay because I don't live in 2013 right now.

Only other halfway decent ones I've seen are well into 10k territory so tell me what YOU consider "worth it" and (more importantly) why you feel the one they have ISN'T.

I think you can expand FB to 500 miles. Still not perfect but better than 100 miles
